Life changed a lot after my brothers were born.
Number one, we had to move out of our flat in the suburbs. We went to live in the city, in a cramped apartment that smelled like stinky feet.
Number two, Mom had to get a part time job at a supermarket. Money was really hard to save, especially with four growing kids in the house.
Number three, Grandma and Grandpa came to live with us. Grandma helped with the cooking, and Grandpa watched me and my siblings after school, while my parents were still at work.
Number four, the last change, was that Jen and I had to do all the chores, besides the cooking. My Dad was the one who enforced that rule. He told us it was because we were the oldest children and had to earn our keep.
Big changes, but I adapted pretty well. Hopefully, things would settle down for a while. All of this was hard enough, I didn't want or need anything else on my plate.
However, every day, something was changing, but not with my home situation. The change was inside of me. My weird headaches were becoming more frequent. They got colder and more intense. And occasionally, I could feel tingling in my fingertips. It was like something was inside and trying to get out. It scared me, and I hoped that it was just my brain making it all up.
