The gala flew by rapidly, and before I knew it, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and I were sitting down to dinner. Forks clinked awkwardly and nobody said a word. Finally, Olaf spoke up.

"Why is everyone so quiet?" He chirped.

"Oh, Olaf. We've just had a long day and we're exhausted." Anna explained.

"Yeah," I nodded. "Exhausted."

I knew one thing. I was not exhausted. Far from it! My head had been spinning with thoughts since I bumped into Leofric. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get myself to stop thinking about him.

Stop it, Elsa. You met him once. Once.

Once was enough. I was in love.

You're not in love. You're...

"Yeah I'm pretty tired, too!" Olaf nodded.

You're... mildly interested. Yes! That's it. Interested. But not too interested. Mildly.

Olaf shrugged and waddled off to bed, giggling all the way.

Mildly. Mildly. I kept telling myself. You're not in love, no matter what they say. Not in love.

"I'm not!" I shouted, knocking my plate over. Kristoff and Anna gasped.

"What?" Kristoff said, awestruck.

"Elsa, is everything alright?" Anna said gently.

"I'd better... uh... take a walk." I announced, standing up. "You know, to clear my head."

Anna nodded, understandingly. I picked up my spilt plate and left it on the silver cart that was to be carried into the kitchen. Grabbing my cloak from the wardrobe in the corridor, I walked briskly out of the castle.

It was a chilly night for July. The lanterns dotted the street and the moon had begun to rise, barely visible over the tops of the evergreen trees. I sighed and ambled down the cobblestone road and headed towards the fjord. It was the perfect place to relax and to think.

"Elsa, he's very dreamy..." I said aloud, thinking of Leofric. His eyes were like burning ambers, his hair as dark as coals. He had this airy look about him. He was... perfection.
I paced back and forth on the beach, thinking of the day's events. Anna said I looked lovestruck when I saw her on the docks. Maybe she was right...

At that moment, a strong, male voice called out from the town behind me.

"Elsa!" I rolled my eyes. Was it too much to ask for some peace and quiet for once?Whirling around, I saw the speaker. It was none other than Prince Leofric. He was standing behind the stone wall, separating the beach and the town. Duke Albert stood stolidly at his side, clearly not approving of how informally Leo addressed me.

If I said my heart did not jump when I saw him, I'd be lying. In fact, I felt like my heart was not jumping, but rather, repeatedly hopping. I did not care that he called me Elsa; I even preferred it. I meandered over to the wall and up the steps, next to the prince.

"Hello, Prince Leofric." I said cooly, bowing my head.

"Your Highness!" He exclaimed. "Please forgive me for greeting you as such. I..."

"No, no. It's fine, really. I... liked being called Elsa." I smiled.

Okay, girl. Keep it up. Play it cool. You're doing fine.

"And I, Leo." He chuckled lightly.

"Then I guess it's mutual. Henceforth, let us not greet each other as royals, but rather, greet each other as friends." I clasped my hands together.
