CHAPTER 7
Amidst the falling, flaming rubble, an oval light shimmered and shone. Within the light stood the figure of a woman. The burning bits of building still descending from the skies bounced off the shield of light impotently. The woman within the glowing aura raised her arms and the bounds of the light expanded to encompass the entire radius of the blast. In a blinding flash, the light traveled from the woman to the edges of the explosion, extinguishing every tongue of fire in its path. Upon reaching the borders of its mission, the light somersaulted and, like an enormous magnet, gathered the snuffed debris to itself and fly towards the woman. As the light reached the woman in the middle of the mess, it splintered off into thousands and thousands of shards of light, each one carrying some piece of the building. Before Amy Adams's and Kristen Bell's very eyes, the fragments of the building within the grasp of the dancing lights soon came back together, and the figure of the woman vanished from sight as the unblemished form of the building rebounded into reality. In no more than five minutes, every particle of light had done its job and vanished from sight shortly after, leaving behind only the cool stillness of the night and the building right as it had ever been.
Two women emerged from the front of the building. Amy Adams and Kristen Bell looked closer. It was Audra McDonald and Mindy Kaling! They had both been inside the building! Kristen gasped.
"Oh my god," said Kristen Bell. "What just happened?"
Amy Adams hesitated before replying, "I'm not entirely sure. But I do believe the woman we saw within that corona of moonlight was none other than our own Audra McDonald who now this way walks with sister Mindy Kaling, praise be. I'm sure they will be able to tell us more, Kristen Bell."
By this time, Audra McDonald and Mindy Kaling had nearly reached the pink and silver Jeep in which Amy Adams and Kristen Bell sat. The car was, remarkably, unharmed. Amy unlocked the Jeep's doors. Audra McDonald sat up front while Mindy Kaling got in the back with Kristen Bell.
"Hello, Audra McDonald and Mindy Kaling," Amy Adams spake upon their entrance to the pink and silver Jeep. "We were so frightened that you might have been harmed in the explosion."
"Hello, sisters," replied Audra McDonald. "We are fine. Thank you for your concern."
"We have more pressing matters than pleasantries," Mindy said. "Even as we speak, Gwyneth Paltrow is starting her next attack against us, fearing as she does the knowledge which we know. Drive!"
Amy Adams slammed on the gas and the pink and silver Jeep sped off into the night.
