At Seoul's Institute.
-Yeonjun's POV-
I kept looking at Beomgyu while trying to guess what made him feel upset. Yet, before I could discover what bothered him, he suddenly switched his expression to a subtle smile.
-What is it? – I automatically asked, shortly after noticing my actions.
-Nothing. I realize that my problems aren't something our friends should worry about for me. I get it, Jiyun may get the wrong impression after tonight's dinner, but I can solve it later on. – Beomgyu disclosed, sounding more optimistic than before.
-So, do you believe our friends shouldn't worry about this issue? – I questioned, intrigued.
-Yes, just like you did. – Beomgyu pointed out, making me avert my glance immediately. He made me feel embarrassed. After all, I believe his current problems are severe and troublesome.
-But now I care! – I playfully said, trying to change the mood between us.
-Yes, I guess you do, hyung. – Beomgyu smiled before we reached the gate. Shortly, we looked at each other as we stopped walking.
-I only want you to take care of yourself when you see Jiyun and her parents. – I sincerely said, finally saying that makes sense with my current thoughts.
-Likewise, hyung. You have to take care of yourself too. – Beomgyu answered, returning to his friendly responses.
-So, where are you going? – I curiously asked, already wanting to change the subject.
-I thought about going home. But now, I don't feel like it. – Beomgyu admitted before pouting. I can tell he's tired, and perhaps his emotions consumed his energy entirely.
-Are your parents at home? – I asked.
-I don't think so; my parents are busy with work. But I still don't want to be there whenever they arrive. – Beomgyu revealed, making me realize that he didn't want to confront his parents due to tonight's event.
-Do you want to go to my place? You can stay there until you need to leave. – I told Beomgyu. Immediately, he smiled and nodded at my words.
-Sure! I was waiting for that invitation. – Beomgyu happily said.
-Alright! Let's go! – I smiled back at Beomgyu before we walked to the parking lots and then reached my car.
Later the same day. – At Yeonjun's apartment.
-Beomgyu's POV-
It's been a few hours since we arrived at Yeonjun's place. We ate a quick snack together and began working on our assignments. Currently, I don't feel upset with Yeonjun anymore. After all, he became worried about me. Yet, I still find it irritating how my best friend thought my situation with Jiyun wasn't troublesome for me. Honestly, I believed he felt worried but didn't show it. Unfortunately, Yeonjun confirmed that he didn't have concerns about my sudden date with Jiyun.
Presently, Yeonjun is sitting on the rug. We are next to each other while listening to some music and writing in our notebooks. However, something captured my attention. I glanced at Yeonjun for some moments and realized how he constantly scratched the back of his head.
Is he nervous?
-Yeonjun-hyung? – I called his name, not hesitating to speak up first. Then, he looked at me and raised his eyebrows afterward. -Are you okay? You've been scratching yourself for a while now. – I questioned, intrigued.
-Oh, sorry! I didn't notice, but it's okay. I'm only worried about you; that's all. – Yeonjun awkwardly smiled, making me snicker slightly at his expression.
-I already told you not to do so. – I mentioned before looking back at my work, shortly resuming my homework.
-I know you did, but Beomgyu-ah, don't you feel slightly concerned about tonight's outcome? – Yeonjun concernedly questioned.
-Why? What are you thinking? – I asked, confused. Yet, I didn't look at him and continued to write in my notebook.
-Jiyun likes you, and I think she won't stop bugging you until you be with her. – Yeonjun pointed out, causing me to chuckle slightly more.
-Hyung, you are talking about Jiyun as if she was incredibly possessive. – I said between chuckles.
-Yah! Laugh all you want, Choi Beomgyu! I'm telling you the truth; that girl wants you. – Yeonjun insisted, but I laughed it off since his annoyed expression looked like a pout. -Ah! Stop laughing at me, Beomgyu-ah! – Yeonjun complained.
-You told me to laugh all I wanted. – I pointed out, causing Yeonjun to grunt and move toward me. Shortly, he started to clutter my hair and tickle me. – I uncontrollably laughed until he stopped and looked at me annoyedly. We stared at each other while I continued to smile at him.
-What? – I playfully asked.
-Is it a romantic dinner? Just the two of you? – Yeonjun questioned, for which I shook my head in response.
-My parents made a reservation at Dugahun, and both relatives are joining. – I explained, causing Yeonjun to look at me in shock, and shortly he got apart from me.
-That's a fancy and romantic place! – Yeonjun stated.
-It isn't romantic when you bring family and friends. And for me, Jiyun enters the "friends" category! – I pointed out before releasing a short sigh. -Yeonjun-hyung, it's just a dinner. And even though I don't want to go. And felt worried at the beginning. Now, I want to enjoy it and have a pleasant time. – I admitted while reminiscing what Seulgi told me earlier.
-So, now you like Jiyun and want to have a date with her. – Yeonjun assumed, making me snicker at his response.
-None of that. I see Jiyun as a "good" friend, and even though she may be clingy, she's a lovely girl. – I mentioned. Once more, Yeonjun looked surprised after hearing my answer.
-Are you okay? What happened to this morning's Beomgyu? – Yeonjun asked before placing his hand on my forehead. -You don't have a fever. Then, what is it? – Yeonjun questioned, already starting to talk with himself.
-Hyung, I'm okay! – I assured him before placing his hand away from my forehead. -I only talked with Seulgi, and she made me realize that I should see the brighter side of this situation. That's all, okay? – I told Yeonjun. Immediately, he pointed at me while looking angry but funny and cute by his expression.
-That girl! I already told Chaeyong to keep her friend's ideas away from you. – Yeonjun protested. I rolled my eyes at his reaction while shaking my head slightly, and then I sat closer to Yeonjun.
-Our friends did worry you a lot. Who was it? Soobin-hyung? – I questioned, shortly receiving Yeonjun's nod as an answer.
-Now I understand their concerns. But I bet our friends would be even more concerned if they heard you right now. – Yeonjun claimed, making me laugh at him.
-Yah! You are talking about me as if I was crazy. – I pointed out while grumbling.
-You are Choi Beomgyu. – Yeonjun said, looking somewhat satisfied.
-Hey! – I looked at Yeonjun, amazed, before slapping his thigh.
-Did you just hit me?! – Yeonjun asked in shock before balancing over me. -I'm your hyung; have some respect! – Yeonjun demanded as he began tickling me.
-Hyung, hyung, I'm sorry! – I said while laughing between words; however, Yeonjun didn't stop.
Eventually, I pushed Yeonjun away from me, placing my hands on his chest to create distance between us. We looked at each other while smiling and snickering. But it suddenly hit me: we are too close to each other. There's when my heart began to beat faster than before.
