Nicole's POV

Tears stung my eyes as we approached the waiting area for Cody's plane. I noticed him glancing at me out of the corner of his eye. I tried to blink the tears away knowing that me crying would only make the situation worse.

"Hey..." Cody said softly. He stopped right before two seats and turned to face me.

I looked down. I tried to avoid his gaze, knowing if I looked up I'd burst.

His index finger lifted up my chin to force me to look at him.

I cracked. My lip quivered, tears rolled down my cheeks in steady streams, and my body shook with soft, quiet sobs.

Cody stood there in the middle of the waiting area hugging me. I soon felt his own chest to rise and fall in uneven breaths as he started to cry as well. He stroked my hair, not only trying to calm me down, but to sooth himself too.

"Cody..." I managed in between rattled breaths and sobs.

"Yes?" he replied, sounding a little shook up.

"Why do you have to go?" I asked. I lifted my head off his chest, looking up at him. His cheeks soaked with tears, but a forced smile on his lips. He started giving me an answer, but I payed no attention.

I examined his facial features. First, his jaw line. Chiseled, handsome... a very attractive trait that I've never noticed about him. Next, his lips. Full and pink. I stopped myself before I looked at his eyes.

No Nicole. Stop. He's your friend. I thought, but my subconscious told me otherwise...

My mind wandered. He had stopped talking and we just stood there in silence, staring at each other. Examining each others slight movements and features.

You like him... the little voice in my head kept saying.

I finally looked down. Confused in my own thoughts. Did I really like him? What if he likes me too?

My thoughts were interrupted by the intercom saying, "Flight 220 is now boarding."

Cody sighed and released me from his arms. He looked at me as if he was trying to decide something. I looked at him puzzled, but I soon knew what he was thinking about.

Liam's POV

We walked out of our normal waiting area and started walking over the other boarding area.

There were many families saying Goodbye and many couples hugging or kissing.

There was one girl that caught my eye. She stood there. Motionless. Staring in the direction of the gate.

She looked so sad. Her cheeks were stained with tears.

I stopped. I couldn't look away.

"C'mon Liam!" Louis yelled.

"Hold on." I said.

I slowly made my way to the girl. She was now sitting in a seat with her chin resting in her hands.

"Hi." I whispered, not wanting to startle her.

She looked up at me. Her eyes were puffy and her hair was a little messy too.

"Yes?" she asked.

"What is your name?" I don't know what came over me, but I just felt bad for the beautiful girl sitting before me.

"Nicole... why?" her face made a contorted expression, obviously a little confused.  Scratch that, very confused and maybe even scared.

"I'm Liam." I replied. "I just saw that you were a little down and wanted to make sure that you were ok."

"I'm fine." she said, tears starting to brim her eyes. She averted her gaze to her lap.

I crouched down in front of her. My fingers brushing her knee. She tilted her head to look at me.  It hurt to look at her. I barely knew her, but I felt so much for her.

"Liam! Get your arse over here! You're gonna make us miss the flight!" Harry yelled.

Nicole's head whipped toward Harry's direction.

I sighed. "I'm sorry." apologizing for Harry.

"It's ok." she said, smiling slightly.

"Here..." I said taking out a piece of paper and a pen, "I know I'm a stranger to you, but if you need anything, text me." I smiled while handing her the paper.

Nicole smiled. "Thank you."

"No problem." I said.

I stood up and made my way to the gate, smiling.
