"And now, back to Wayland!" Mary's father said.
"So, if we can't take a plane, then how can we ever make-" Mary's sentence was interrupted by a big yawn, "-it in time?"
I glanced at my watch. It was midnight.
"Guys, we better get some sleep. It's midnight."
"You're right. I'm tired," Dalton yawned.
"Where?" Paulina asked.
It was so crammed in the truck that it was hard to sit, let alone sleep.
"Our house?" my mother asked.
"No. Our house. I see you have packed your things, but we haven't," said Paulina and Dalton's mother.
"Agreed," my grandfather said.
The siblings' father drove to their house. At first, he was unused of driving a truck. He hit a trashcan and when he reversed, he hit a tree. "Careful!" Aldwyn had said. But, before he got used to driving a truck, we have arrived. Thank goodness there was no policeman asking for his driving license.
The sibling's house was a simple three-storey white house, located in the center of the busy town. Their garden was planted with beautiful flowers and looked well-cared. When I got inside, I couldn't help but stare at so many cats inside. They were not real cats. There were pictures of a single cat hung on the wall. When I look more closely, I saw that this was Sandstorm. There were Sandstorm statues on the table and a flowerpot shaped like Sandstorm beside the table.
Sandstorm entered the house like a queen. She was really proud of all the Sandstorms around her.
"Looks like your loyals are very fond of you," Aldwyn whispered to Sandstorm.
"Yeah, they are. Why don't you get a loyal yourself? You know, life is easier with humans. Food is always ready. Many pats and hugs. Plus, you can ask for anything you want 'cause you can speak, and they will grant them," she replied with more than a little pride.
"I'm sure I will, after seeing your life with a loyal."
"And, if you want a loyal, I recommend a family with children."
"Why?"
"Trust me."
We walked to the two bedrooms that were meant for guests. Unfortunately, there were only two beds in each bedroom, so it was only enough for four people. Nobody wanted to sleep on the floor.
Just as we were about to argue for the rest of the night, Dalton came in.
"Sorry, friends. I just realized that it will only be enough for four, so Mark can sleep in my bedroom and Mary can sleep in Paula's bedroom."
"Great! You came just in time. Oh, so Paula is her nickname?" Mary asked.
"Did I say Paula? I call her that, but she only lets me do that, so don't call her Paula."
We followed Dalton to the siblings' room. They were at the top of the three-storey house. The rooms were side by side, connected by a door in the middle. Mark went inside Dalton's room and Mary went inside Paulina's room.
