During lunch the next day I just go out to the picnic bench, hoping Eddie would be out there. I eat a sandwich and just lay on the bench. "I knew you'd be here." Eddie says walking up. I sit up and smile. "You ditching your friends now?" He asks and sits across from me. "Not completely, I still have my cheerleading duties." I say. "You really do like that cheerleading stuff huh?" Eddie asks. I nod and smile. "It's been my thing since sixth grade, when they first started letting us try out." I say. "I remember you were crushed when you didn't make it in sixth grade." Eddie says. I nod. "I tried super hard and then ended up making it next year. It was great." I say. Eddie smiles. "Have you eaten?" I ask. He shakes his head. I smile and give him half of my sandwich. We eat in silence for a bit. Eddie finishes before me.

"We should hang after school, just you and me." He says. I nod. "Where?" I ask. Eddie shrugs. "I dunno, maybe I could drive you to my house or something." He says. "You drive like a maniac, you'd kill me." I say. "I always drive safe when there's precious cargo." He says. I roll my eyes and smile. "Fine, follow me home after school so I can drop my car off." I say. "Aye, aye captain." He says standing up and saluting me. He reaches for my hand and I take it while standing up. "It's about that time." He says. Lunch is almost over. "Maybe we shouldn't walk in together.." I say softly. Eddie let's go of my hand. "Oh, yeah. Probably not. Wouldn't want to damage your reputation." He says. "I'm sorry." I say and quickly walk back to the school.

After school I wait for Eddie in the parking lot. I see him looking for me as he walks to his car. I just wait for him to notice me then I get into my car. I start the drive to my house and see Eddie following me. I smile and drive up to Loch Nora. I park my car in my driveway and Eddie parks behind me. I walk up to his window and he rolls it down. "I'm gonna go inside and talk to my mom real quick." I say. He nods and I run inside. "Mom! I'm home!" I shout. "I'm in here!" She shouts from the kitchen. I walk in there. "Hey, can I go to Stacy's? We're having a girls night, but it may relocate to Chrissy's." I say. "That's fine hun, have fun." She says. "Thank you! I will!" I say as I run back out of the house. I hop into Eddie's car. "Let's go." I say

"Anddd this is my house." Eddie says opening the door for me. I walk in and look around. It wasn't nice by any means. It was just so, Eddie. He picks up a few bongs and shoves them into cabinets. "Can I see your room?" I ask. He nods and leads me there. He had a bunch of posters all over his walls. "Is that guitar yours?" I ask pointing to a red electric guitar. He nods. "It's really pretty." I say bending down to look at it. "Wanna go watch a movie or something?" He asks. I nod and he takes me back to the living room. He puts on Labyrinth and we sit on the couch.

"Is it fine if I smoke around you?" Eddie asks. I nod. "My brother used to do that shit all the time, it's fine Eddie." I say. He gets up and grabs one of his bongs. He lights it up and smokes it. He coughs for a second. "Want to try?" He asks. I nod and he teaches me how to do it. I do it exactly how he taught me and I cough for like a minute straight. Eddie just laughs at me. "I could've died." I say. "But you didn't." He says and does it again. Eddie hits the bong a few more times and I lean into him while watching the movie. He wraps his arm around me and I feel it. That damn storm Harrington was always talking about, and I think Eddie felt it too. I feel him look down at me so I look up at him. "How ya feelin?" He asks. "Pretty good." I say smiling. "You're beautiful." He says. "Shut up, Munson." I say. He kisses my forehead softly. I lean in closer to him. He cups my cheek with his free hand and kisses me. I kiss back. "Eddie, we're just friends." I say. "Mhm, just friends." I kiss him again. "Just friends." I say as I press my body against his. "Just friends." He says as he pulls my leg over his so I straddle him. "Just friends." I say as I kiss him again. "Just friends." He says as he carries me to his room.
