I tried my hardest to keep myself from laughing, but one look at Robin and I was out for the count. Our snickering could be heard from behind the counter window and I could just feel the annoyance rolling off of Steve. Robin and I watched as the girl Steve was trying to flirt with paid for her ice cream as quickly as possible and ran out of the store before Steve could even give her change back. Once she was gone, our muffled laughs turned into loud boisterous ones, Steve turning back to look at us with an unamused look on his face.

"Well Popeye, that was three for three. Not doing too well today huh?" Robin teased, as she marked another line down the "You Rule/You Suck" board. Steve sighed and rolled his eyes at us.

"I'd be in better form if I didn't have you two giggling back here and scaring the ladies away," he huffed looking at the two of us. I, for one, was secretly enjoying the fact that Steve was striking out. The tiny green monster inside of me reared it's head every time a female customer walked into the store. I've had a crush on him for what felt like forever, but never had the guts to tell him. Not that he would reciprocate the feelings or anything; Steve has never once made a move on me. Sure we sometimes joked around to kill time at work, sometimes engaging in a mild flirting, but that was Steve's persona. Who was I to turn away those big brown puppy dog eyes?

"Nah, what you need is practice. Your skills are clearly suffering from your lack of female attention," Robin mused, staring at Steve with a bored expression.

"I'm trying to practice! But this uniform is cramping my style, fucking "company policy." And with you two cracking up, the vibe is all off!" Steve whined, throwing his Scoops Ahoy uniform hat on the ground to prove his point. I laughed again and Steve turned his gaze on me.

"Practice on us then, we'll be honest with you and let you know if it's working." I couldn't believe the sentence as it came out of my mouth, but decided to roll with it. What's the worse that could happen?

Robin gagged, backing away from the window. "No thanks, I'd rather not be inflicted with this sort of cruel punishment." She shuddered dramatically and I laughed again. I looked at Steve who was giving me a strange look.

"You want me to flirt with you?" He asked, and I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks.

YES!

"Well, uh, sure why not? You could use the practice, and I'll be perfectly honest about whether or not it's working. And besides, the boys that visit this shop are all entangled with their girlfriends, I haven't had any male attention all summer," I joked, trying to calm myself internally. I didn't care about any of the boys who entered the ice cream shop—I was too enamored with the fluffy haired sailor that I spent eight hours a day with.

Steve continued to look at me, his eyes boring into mine for what felt like forever, before nodding.

"Yeah, okay, deal. And on that note, I'll see you both tomorrow. Ahoy!" He said, giving us a salute, going around the counter and heading to the back to grab his things. My eyes followed his retreating body, enjoying the way his behind looked in those shorts. I sighed and turned to Robin, who had a smirk plastered on her face.

"What?" I asked, trying to avoid her gaze as I started wiping down the counter.

"Oh you know what. You LIKE him! Why didn't you say anything before?? Oh my god, is this why you always get grumpy when he starts flirting with other girls?"
