Aether stayed in Snezhnaya for one more day. After that, he left. Childe promised to make him proud and Aether promised to wait for him. They agreed on not seeing each other until Childe had won the battle, so Aether returned to his journey to Sumeru. after a long time, Aether's journey through Sumeru came to an end and he was now making his way to Fontaine.
He started to worry about Childe. Of course he thought of the man every day and he knew that taking down the whole Fatui wouldn't take him just a minute but probably months if not years and even if he had taken them down, the Tsaritsa would be an even bigger problem! All he wanted was to go back and check on him. He didn't even need to talk to him, if he could just see him, no, get a glimpse of him for just a small second he'd be fine! He just needed to know if he was okay...
The thought of never seeing him again made him anxious. Still, he swallowed his fears and continued his journey to find his sister. They had made a promise, after all. To anyone, a promise about a situation like this would be better off broken. But Aether knew how serious promises were to Childe. So, he decided to trust him. It's kind of weird... when Aether came into this world, there was nothing more important then finding his sister, but when he met Childe, everything changed.
The first time they met was in Liyue, Harbor. Aether was being chased by the millelith because of his 'suspicious' demeanor after the fake death of Rex Lapis, the Geo archon. The millelith had him cornered when suddenly, a man showed up and saved him. That man, was Childe. Aether got this dark vibe from him, but it was very confusing. It was like every ounce in his body was telling him to run away, but for some reason... he felt drawn to him. His mind was telling him to run but his heart told him stay. Maybe it was curiosity or the lack of info about the man that was keeping him chained to the ground, but even if someone had dragged him away he would've ran straight back. Even if he got the chance to do it all over, he would do it the exact same way. At that time, Aether couldn't quite explain the feeling that he felt every time he saw him, but now... he is sure of it. "Love" Aether whispered quietly, before dozing off to sleep.
