Stellar's POV
I stared at the fat, white lumps of clouds passing by through the window of the airplane and heaved a sigh as I decided to take a quick nap before we arrive in the city of Sunbridge.
7 years had already passed from the incident when I accidentally unlocked my psychic powers in that dawn.
The only thing I could remember when I woke up at that time was being locked in a completely white empty room aside for a woman in her mid-thirties whose dark hair was pulled into a tight bun at the back of her head and wore a pair of eyeglasses that covered her intense, intelligent gray eyes.
"Stellar, my name is Dr. Chase, but you can call me Sophia. I am a parapsychologist and I believe that I can help you", Sophia said in a serious tone. I didn't reply, because my head felt too tired to respond and I didn't think I had to.
"You have to control your powers, Stellar. I'm afraid I've never heard anyone do something like what you did to those men, but I can help you restrain yourself so nothing like this ever happens again", she convinces me.
"Wh-where are my parents?", I croaked in a weak, rasp voice. I hope they're safe. Sophia frowned and looked at me sadly.
Tears threatened to burn the back of my eyes. No. Not them, please..
"Your parents are alive, but they flew across the country and left you under my care. Humans fear what they don't understand, Stellar. When a 9-year-old like you is found to be capable of illogically murdering a bunch of men, humans will glare at you as if you are a monster. Ignorance will blind them from seeing who you truly are, even if the answer is just simple. You are still just Stellar, a 9-year-old child. I understand that and I'm sorry", she said morosely. I let the dam open and that's when the tears flooded down my face.
My own parents are scared of me. They think I'm a monster. I'm still me, right? Now that I think about it, who exactly am I?
At least, they're safe, even if they despised me and just left me under the wing of some scientist. It doesn't matter if they lived knowing their youngest son was a mass murderer as long as I knew they were still alive. It makes me feel like letting them think of me as a monster was actually worth it if I got them safe and sound.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and cleared my throat.
"What about Siri and Shane?", I asked Sophia.
"Your brothers are safe with your parents", Sophia smiled with still a trace of melancholy in her eyes. I sighed in relief and nodded. She offered a hand for me to shake and I stared at it like a foreign object, which it actually was.
"Please let me help you, Stellar. I'm a psychic too and I completely know how it feels to be standing on your shoes now", she pleaded.
I have no one and nothing now, but Sophia and she's willing to help me. I looked back at her serious gray eyes and set the direction of my life.
"I accept your help, Dr. Sophia Chase", I gently took her hand and shook it. Sophia smiled at me and suddenly hugged me.
Siri, Shane, Mom, Dad, I promise the next time we meet, I'll be fully in control of myself. And our paths shall cross again, no matter what, and we will be smiling.
