' Good morning children. '
' Good morning Papa. '

I stood beside Jane and the other children in the rainbow room, we stood in rows waiting for Papa to explain todays lessons to us. We were taken down the corridor by Papa and Dr. Ellis to a grey empty room. We stood against the wall in order of the numbers permanently engraved into our wrists.

He called up the first two children, William and Tina ( 5 & 7 ) and placed them in identical circles opposite each other. Seven doctors in matching white lab coats came in through the double doors. The Hawkins Laboratory logo plastered on the right pocket. They placed the monitors over their shaved heads and wired them up to the machines.

' Today children, we are going to be using the abilities you've been taught and testing them, against one another. '

We looked at one another in turn.

' Whoever refuses to complete their task will be punished. '

William raised his hand and Tina placed two fingers against each side of her temples. The machines began to whir and hum as it ministered their brainwaves.

Blood started to drip from both their nostrils. William's hand started to close into a tight fist, Tina started to wriggle and squirm. She shut her eyes, focusing on the energy and power she needed to stop 5. He moved his hands to the sides of his head a grasped onto it tightly, wincing and yelping in pain. Tina stopped and wiped the blood from her nose, he eventually fell to the ground crying.

This kept going until the only two left were the two most powerful. Jane and me. We walked slowly to our circles as the scientists hooked us up to the machinery. I slightly nodded to Jane, hoping she understand what I mean to say was that everything is going to be ok. I felt the eyes beside us burning into the side of my head.

Jane lifted her hand towards me, mine stayed gently swaying on either side of me. Once our signal to begin was given Jane lifted me slightly into the air, dropping me gently back down to my feet.

I couldn't fight back, I had no control, I would kill her. Her bottom lip started to quiver as we made eye contact. I shot her back a subtle smile. She continued.

She telepathically sent a sharp harsh blow to my stomach, causing me to topple over and yell in pain.

' Fight back. '

I heard Papa murmur.

' Fight back Six. '

He told me, loud and clear for all the children to hear. My hands started to glow red, I shut my eyes focusing on the energy and the tingling sensation in my hands. I opened my eyes again, the beaming red on my palms dissolved to droplets of sweat balling up. I heard a sigh from Papa.

Jane finally sent me flying into the wall behind, I hit my back harshly against the wall, Jane wiped the blood from her nose. Two of the scientists left and came back in with two security guards.

I shut my eyes and breathed out deeply, they made their way over to me, each of them grabbing my arms tightly, dragging me away through the halls and down the corridors.
