Chapter 7
I feel like I have worn all of the dresses for the day that I slump on the couch even as I am wearing a ballgown style wedding dress. The one I am wearing right now is too extravagant and would certainly not be the one that I am going to wear on my wedding dress. It's too puffy and heavy.
It's a big no for me.
Unfortunately, Gina and Jen don't seem to be finished with torturing me with wedding gowns just yet because they seem to be checking what other dress styles will suit me.
'Custard, kill me now.' I beg my familiar and bury my face in his fur. He's lying on the same couch as me, trying to ease my discomfort by allowing me to use him as a pillow.
'I can't. Your fiance is going to use my skin as a rag.'
'How dare he! You'll do better as a pillow!'
'Master!'
"Hey, Rose." Dread seeps into my skin when I hear Jen calling for my name. When I look up, I see her and Gina each holding a dress in hand. "Do you think that you can try these on?"
"Jen!" I cried and buried my face into Custard's fur once more. "We already have a design, so we might as well stick to it!"
"But we want to see what other details we can add!"
"Keep it simple. I want it simple, and preferably comfortable!" I sound like a child throwing a tantrum, but can they blame me? We have been doing this for hours and I am getting tired with all of the changes and measurements. Most of all, I haven't eaten!
When someone knocks on the door of our room, I can't be happier as I was the one who first got to my feet and rush for the door. Imagine my surprise when I see Daniel behind the door, panting and sweating.
"Hello, Rose. Miss me? By the way, can I come in? Thank you!" He rudely goes inside before I can stop him.
"What are you doing here and why are you breathless?" When it comes to Dan, I am always on my guard. Between him and Ren, he's the most troublesome one. At least Ren is back in Saver and doing his kingly duties.
"Nothing." He says. "Oh, hey, is that your dress?"
"Maybe." I lied because something about the way that he's smiling is making me doubt his intentions. This guy is clearly up to something. "What do you want, Daniel?"
Dan looks back like he's observing Jen and Gina, who are both still looking for dress designs. He makes a face. "Wow. You seem pretty tired. Would you like to ditch this room and go with me somewhere?"
I cross my arms over my chest because if there's one thing that I have learned since being friends with Daniel, is that you should never give your trust to him that easily. Chances are he is plotting something.
"I don't know, Dan. I think that-"
"As the bride, you should really see the stable set up that the coordinators prepared along with the desserts." He inserts with a grin.
"You know, I think that Jen and Gina are going to take a while, and it's not like my dress isn't decided yet." I smile and close the door gently behind me so the two girls will not notice my departure. "Where should we go?"
I know that I should be concerned with the smile that Dan has right now, but I am not interested in tasting the desserts that I shove all of my concerns to the back of my head. I start to follow Dan while still wearing the wedding dress that I totally forgot about until I see the servant looking at me with proud smiles on their faces.
