— CHAPTER ONE
The Hellfire ClubELIZABETH was never one to worry. She kept herself cool, calm, and collected. After all, the resident Hawkins High "it-girl" had made a name for herself somehow.
However, when one finds out that another world full of demonic-like creatures exists right below their feet, they might worry.
Liz had never faced fear like she had in the past two years. Demogorgons were bad enough. The addition of the mind flayer was definitely not necessary in her life. Not even mentioning the final battle that took her, at the time, boyfriend, Billy Hargrove, away.
Elizabeth had never settled down with one boy in her entire life. Billy became the exception. Had he been an asshole when they first met? Yes. Had she seen a change in him after their time together? Absolutely.
Liz was no angel herself, but she would never settle for less than she felt she deserved. Some people might consider Elizabeth mean, rightfully so. She had to maintain her image somehow.
Her stepsister, Chrissy, hated how Liz hid certain friendships and aspects of herself. Their parents had gotten married when both girls were only five. Considering they were the same age, the stepsisters grew up pretty close.
"Lizzie, your friends are here!" Chrissy called into the house from the front room.
Elizabeth quickly shoved what was left of her granola bar in her mouth. She threw her bag over her shoulder and walked through their large kitchen to the entry hall.
Chrissy, who was sitting on the couch while organizing her homework, smiled up at her sister as she opened the front door, "Don't forget about the pep rally today."
"How could I forget when my sister is the starring role," Liz teased as she left the house.
Elizabeth threw open the door to the backseat of Steve Harrington's car, slamming it shut after she was inside the car.
"Jesus, Liz. Go easy on her," Steve scolded before pulling out of the girls driveway.
Elizabeth eagerly leaned up in her seat to rest her arms on the center console between Steve and Robin, "So, Steven. What's the lineup looking like this week?"
"I'm so glad you asked," Steve said as if he had been preparing his answer for awhile. "Tonight we've got Laura from the bowling alley. Then there's Heidi tomorrow night, but the problem with Heidi is that she's going out of state for college. Do I wanna start another relationship that has no point other than sex?"
"Yes," Elizabeth answered almost immediately while Robin continued her makeup.
"I mean," Steve frustratedly started. "I don't know. Does that make sense to you guys?"
Liz leaned back in her seat, "Yep. But maybe that's just because i'm a slut."
Steve looked at his best friend through the rear view mirror. He knew she hadn't hooked up with anyone since Billy, nor did she want to.
