Arabella Gilbert had been painting all night – she didn't get any sleep, she doesn't really sleep anymore. Not since her parents died all she does is paint, drink ice coffee and keep up with her running for track. Oh and can't forget getting high with her little brother – Jeremy and Ella are only 11 months apart but they act more like twins. Jeremy likes to draw while Ella paints, he likes hot coffee while she only drinks ice coffee. And both Gilbert are depressed, even though they both deny it and ignore it.

In 3 days, Arabella was turning sixteen – but she couldn't care less nothing mattered that much to her anymore, but three things; Family, Painting and Track. That's it not eating, herself or friends — not that she really had any. Jeremy and herself only really hung out with other people who get high, but she won't call them 'friends' if she had to guess who her friends were it be Bonnie and Caroline – thought they weren't really hers the only reason they spend time together was because her older sister Elena are best friends with them.

Arabella's only friend is Jeremy, her best friend. Elena has been telling her lately things will be better and she'll have new friends – after her parents death? Yeah right. Ella didn't want any friends that's what she told herself, to her it was just more people she could lose. She didn't want to worry about anyone else but Jeremy, her Aunt Jenna and Elena. Well she did but she didn't know if she could bare anymore loss.

The problem was Arabella did care about people, she care about them a lot – even if she doesn't know them, she'll stop to help a random person with whatever they need. She volunteers for events, even though she doesn't really want to and she doesn't have the energy for anything anymore. That was Arabella Gilbert's flaw. She cared to much about people – people who didn't deserve it or took her for granted which happened a lot.

"Ella! You got to get ready. School starts soon, wash off the paint, put new clothes on hurry." Her older sister barged into her room, Ella sighed putting her paint brush down – she hadn't realized what time it was, usually Jeremy comes to check to make sure she's ready for the day. Maybe he was having a slow start as well, it is the first day back at school.

Arabella had almost finished her painting of a wolf howling at the moon, a few hours ago she finished the reflection of tress and a red full moon in water. Ella started to clean up her paint mess, she got most of the paint off her hands. She quickly untied her hair just to brush it then put it back up again – she decided to wear her grey sweatpants and her Pink Floyd t-shirt which was a little to big for her small frame.
