Hopper was one of the most popular people in the school, He was a good looking quarterback on the football team. He didn't really have many loyal friends besides Murray and Benny. Joyce was his friend too, they talked but they weren't as close as they were too shy to talk to each other. Those were it. Joyce on the other hand was shy, beautiful, and barely had any friends, well she had no friends, except for Karen and Hop . She was the only person she trusted. Hopper had a huge crush on Joyce and Joyce had a huge crush on Hopper.
"Jim, are you gonna ask her to prom!?" Benny asked him
"She probably already has a date, with her looks and her amazing personality." Jim replied
They each had no idea Joyce crept up listening to their conversation not knowing how to join in.
"I mean.. I guess so. If she isn't taken then I say you give it a shot. You've liked her since 6th grade man!"
"I guess."
"So who's the lucky girl?" Joyce said
Hopper's face turned a whole new shade of red as he looked at Benny giving him the 'don't say a thing ' look.
"Oh.. uh.. um.."
"Is it Karen? I promise I'll keep my mouth shut."
"No."
"Oh I figured it because you were struggling to tell me."
"No it's someone else.. it uh.. it doesn't matter.."
"Oh.. okay..?"
As soon as Hopper left Joyce ran to Benny to interrogate him. She wanted to know who that girl was so she could see what Hop liked about her just so she could impress him.
"Benny! Who was it!?"
"He will kill me if he finds out I told you."
"I won't tell him. I swear on my life."
"It's uh.. It's you."
"W-What?"
"Yeah... Um"
"Holy shit."
"Listen I gotta go but please do not tell him I told you."
"I won't."
She went to class realizing Hopper wasn't there, worried she raised her hand asking to use the restroom to see if he was in another class. Of course he was in the bathroom too, running into eachother.
"Oh, Hi Joyce"
"H-Hi Hopper!" she couldn't look at him without smiling like an idiot.
"Why are you smiling? Is there something on my face?"
"Yes."
"Oh shit. What is it?- I can't find it."
"Good looks." she said winking as she left
"Did Joyce Horowitz just say you were good looking?" Murray said walking out of the stall.
"Maybe." he said now smiling like an idiot too.
"Cmon, we are already late for class."
As they made it to class Murray shouted across the room to Hopper in a whisper tone assuming people wouldn't hear.
"Are you two lovebirds sitting together at lunch? If not I'm gonna hang out with Benny out in the library"
"Murray! Shut up!"
Joyce giggled hearing them bickering.
"Oh. Whoops."
At Lunchtime
"Hey, Whatcha lookin at?" Hop asked seeing Joyce looking at her phone.
"Oh, I just found this car. I almost have enough for it. It is my dream car, I have been saving for a few years now."
"Oh sick! Can I see?"
"You better not take it. I'm serious I really love this car."
"I won't I just want to see."
"Fine." she said showing him
"Damn.. 12,500 seems like it'd be a good price to get it at."
"Wait.. 12,500?! I thought it said 2,500. I'm fucked."
"Don't worry about it. Place an offer see if they accept."
"Okay.. thank you."

The next day, Joyce went to place an offer on her dream car.

"Sorry hun, But someone already placed an offer and offered to pay it in full."
"O-oh.. O-okay.."
She met Hopper at school looking for him to tell him the news but she found him sitting next to the exact car Joyce said she wanted.
"What the fuck Jim!? I told you I wanted it.. why.." she was in tears as she started to walk away but Hop grabbed her arm.
"I know you wanted it. That's why I got it!"
"Yeah!? Well your a douche then!" she said running off
"Don't you get it!? I got it for you!"
Joyce immediately stopped in her tracks.
"Y-You did?"
"Yes!"
"I-I am so sorry.. I just thought.. How much was it?"
"I told you earlier. 12,500."
"Hopper! I can't pay you that much back!"
"You don't need to. Joyce keep your money."
"Thank you. This means the world to me. I love you."
He felt his heart skip a beat. He never knew Joyce loved him? Maybe he was reading the signs wrong and she didn't mean it like that.
"Y-You d-do?"
Before he could respond to her silence, she gingerly kissed him.
"Was that a good answer?"
He smiled. "Yes.. yes it was. I love you too."
