Chance Encounters

Prologue

I woke up to a dark area, I was slightly confused. If I remembered correctly, I had passed out in my own bed. The thing I was laying on had lumps on it. "What the hell?" I hissed and glanced around to notice the area surrounding me was wooded.

Upon further inspection, I realized that I was laid out on a huge flat rock. Slowly, I made my eyes focus in the dark. There was nothing but trees, until a faint glow appeared around the corners of a tall pine.

Before I realized it, my feet were carrying me towards the light. The woods around me were completely quiet, until the sound of me falling over a rotting log echoed through the trees. I cursed silently, rising to my feet I paused, only to hear nothing.

I continued on until the glow of a campfire became more apparent. I noticed that there were no people around this bonfire area. The hair on the back of my neck stood on end. Something wasn't right here, it was very wrong.

I turned and scanned the area. There were no trash cans, or even signs of past camping trips anywhere. Holding my breath, I crept forward. Each step I took had my stomach churning. My head was screaming for me to turn and run back the way I had come.

Inching forward, to my dismay, a twig snapped. I heard a low growl come from my right. Spinning around, I met a pair of yellow eyes. I took a another step forward. More growls sounded around me, slowly encircling me in a ring of vibrant glaring eyes.

I backed away, then I tripped over another large stick. I yelped in pain as my ankle was rendered useless. The eyes kept getting closer, "Get away," I called.

My body was held to the ground in fear. "What do you want? Go eat a deer or something, I'm just a normal girl!" I started to crawl away when I heard it, "Why are you running away from your family, Hayden?" As they emerged from the shadows, my eyes went wide.

So yep, I don't really have a schedule and this story is a work in progress so I will upload whenever I feel like I have enough and that's it's worthy of uploading.
