I really do plan to make this book my new focus. I'll update and write as much as possible and even though not many people will probably read it, those who do I just want to say thank you too. And the pic on the side is of Landon, I'm not quite sure how exactly to switch my cast with how the new update is so I'm just obviously technically challenged but Landon will now be played by the adorable Joe Alwyn! Happy Reading!!!

Chapter 2

"I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then." -Lewis Carroll

"So where are we going princess?" Landon said for what felt like the 100th time.

"You tell me, I don't know where I'm going prom king" I said and he laughed pulling out a set of keys from his pocket and leading me to a truck.

"One, stop calling me that, and two, it's a fairly small town but there are few cool places" he said opening the door for me as I hopped in the car tossing my board and bag into his backseat.

"Like where, prom king?" I asked fiddling with his radio as he pulled out of the school parking lot.

"Let's call it a surprise!" he said smiling brightly once again.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head, not sure why I'm willingly subjecting myself to this, though in my defense I never in a million years thought he'd say yes and actually come with me.

I continued messing with the radio till I found a song I was in the mood for. I finally heard White Teeth Teens by Lorde come on and I smiled, blasting it from his surprisingly decent speaker system.

"We wouldn't be seen dead here in the day

I guess you're lucky that it's dark now

And if I like it then we'll stay

Impress the empress take a shot now

We got the glow in our mouths...

White teeth teens are out...

Ooh...

White teeth teens are up for it

I know you love it when the hairpins start to drop

I like your reckoning, but we got our methods

And there's nothing here to stop, to stop this"

I sang momentarily forgetting where I was and just enjoying the music.

"You sing really well you know" Landon said suddenly serious, turning the radio down slightly so he didn't have to yell.

I didn't respond, just turned my head away ignoring his compliment.

"So really why did you move here?" Landon said drumming his fingers on the steering wheel as he waited for my answer.

I took a deep breath. I had prepared myself for this question.

"My dad decided it was time for a change" I said with a shrug.

"And your mom just went along with it?" Landon asked his voice curious and carefree, not knowing the weight of the question he'd just asked me.

I made a split decision to say something that in my heart was now true.

Eliminate the wonder, the pity, or the assumption of there being something wrong with me.

"She died when I was eight," I said simply, the lie feeling almost true in a sense.
