Chapter 233: 

Usagi Tsukino found herself floating through the blackness of outer space, clad in an elegant white gown that trailed down to her ankles. Hundreds of millions of twinkling stars surrounded her on all sides as she drift through the empty void. She spotted the planet earth shrinking in the distance and tried desperately to reach it, flailing her arms and legs wildly like a child first learning to swim. Usagi watched in horror as the lovely blue marble got completely swallowed up by the Supreme Evil. Flashes of lightning radiated within the red storm that had usurped her beloved home.

"MAMORU!" Usagi wailed as the corrupted earth strayed away from her sight. An unknown force was pulling her away from it, no matter how much she struggled to go back. Her love was still down there. She wanted to be with him again. To gaze upon his handsome face. To kiss him softly and whisper how sorry she was for leaving his side. Why had she been taken away from him just after reuniting? This was not fair at all. They belonged together in life and in death.

"MAMO!" she screamed his name until she finally landed softly on the gray rocks of the Moon. The ruins of her ancient kingdom greeted her, but she paid them no mind. She sobbed in the dust and moon dirt until she felt a comforting hand grace her shoulder. Usagi looked up only to find the spirit of her ancient mother, Queen Serenity, hovering over her like a ghost.

"Am I really dead?" Sailor Moon wondered aloud. The bewildered girl looked at her own limbs and found that they were translucent. She was not present in a physical sense, only in spirit, just like the beautiful woman floating before her. "What is happening to me?"

"Unfortunately, you have perished in battle, my dear child." The Queen of the Moon spoke in a soft and calm voice. She looked upon the reincarnation of her daughter with a kindness, concealing her immense grief. "I have managed to save your soul and bring you to safety in our ancient kingdom."

"What about my friends?" Usagi sobbed. "What about my Mamo?"

"There is nothing I can do for them." Serenity frowned. "The earth has succumbed to Metalia's corruption. I am so sorry."

"NO! IT'S NOT FAIR!" Usagi pouted. She sprawled out and pound her hands into the lunar surface out of frustration."I WANT MY MAMO!"

"I have just enough essence remaining to cast you into the distant future one last time." Queen Serenity spoke in a tone laden with sadness. "It will be many generations from now, once the earth is cleansed of this terrible evil. But the others will not be joining you this time, I am afraid. However, I promise you will be safe."

"NO! I DON'T WANT TO GO! I'D RATHER STAY DEAD! Usagi refused her mother's generous offer. "I DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT MY GUARDIANS AND MY MAMORU!"

"I know how much you love all of them." Serenity bent down and lifted Usagi's chin to peer into her teary eyes. "I cast you into the future all those years ago so that you could live in peace and finally marry your cherished prince. This was not how I intended for things to end. For that, I am truly sorry, my daughter. Words can't express how difficult it is for me to have to do this, but there is no other option."

"I'M NOT GOING!" Usagi cried and pulled away from her mother's warm touch. "SEND ME BACK HOME! Let me rest in the hands of Mamoru for just a little longer. Even if its just a few seconds. There is no happiness in a future without him or my guardians! That's not a world I want to live in!"

"Very well." Serenity nodded solemnly and floated away from her daughter. "If that is what you truly want. I shall not deny you."
