back in hawkins

"are you exited to be back in hawkins hunny?" my mother asked me, "yeah!" i lied, sitting in the backseat of my fathers car with a sketch book on my lap.

its been a year and three days since I left hawkins, now my parents are forcing me to come back to this shit hole town.

the one and only thing im exited to come back to is my best friend, nancy wheeler. we've talked on the telephone almost every day, but I can't wait to see her again in person.

i placed my sketchbook down on the seat next to me and placed my chin onto my palm, looking out the window.

i wish I was still at my grandparents, that's more of a home for me then hawkins ever was.

police say that barb is still missing and most of this town think she's dead, well I don't think that.

i think that she's stuck, stuck as in can't get out. this might sound crazy but I think she's stuck in another universe, or dimension. im not sure on how to put it, but I call it the 'upside down'.

i know, you must think I sound crazy. but, I keep on having these terrifying nightmares of barb in what looks like a whole different universe.

i want to find her, I need to find her. I also need someone to help me, someone to believe me.

"y/n?" i heard my mum ask. i shook my head, "yeah?" . "you zoned out, we're here!" she answered, I got out of the car to see my, what felt like old, house.

i felt like I was visiting a museum of my life, y/n's family home. where she grew up, where she got her first pet and where her and her best friend, barb, use to have sleepovers and now one of them is dead.

i entered the house and got a sudden feeling of deja vu. i ran up to my old room and my heart skipped a beat, it feels so weird and old.

i sat on the wooden floor and just thought, thought about my life.

it's my first day back at school tomorrow, at least I have someone, and that someone is nancy.
