Inez Wheeler had come from a relatively normal family and from a relatively normal town. She spent most of her time sitting alone reading about various different things in various different places. Finding her in a tree reading about marine animals was more normal to her then not.
This normalness all began to fade when her parents were both offered jobs out of the country. Inez had begged her parents to stay. She only had one more year of high school left and did not like the fact that she would have to uproot her life completely.
So her parents compromised, she'd be able to move one town over and live with her cousins.
Inez was at first upset by this compromise as she did not want to move at all but she figured this would be much easier than moving out the country. So Inez quickly moved into Hawkins where she would be the sixth member of the Wheeler household.
Once Inez was fully moved in she was determined to become closer with one of her cousins, specifically Nancy. They were almost the same age and both determined, hard-working people so Inez figured it would be easy.
This was what led to Nancy letting Inez borrow clothes out her closet occasionally which then also led to Inez accidently finding her cousin's diary hidden in the closet. Now Inez would not have read the diary if she knew it was a diary. She just figured it was some story Nancy wrote when the first page she saw had the word "demogorgon" written on it. So she had taken it upon herself toy read through a few pages until she realized the story was just a bit too detailed to just be a story. And that realization along with Nancy walking into the room led Inez to finally be explained the true story behind Hawkins.
Inez reaction to Nancy's retelling of the past year made her completely regret not going with her parents. But after a handful of almost panic attacks Nancy assured her that it was all in the past now. That Hawkins was not back to its normal and boring self. And eventually Inez just decided it would spare her a few less panic attacks if she just believed her cousin.
And so Inez Wheeler's life in Hawkins, Indiana had finally begun.
