STARBORN: FIFTY-THREE ━━ Sometimes secrets are kept, not for the purpose of lying, but to spare one's own sorrow.
2013 • DARK WORLD
MAYBE THIS WAS HELL.
Steel gray eyes watched with sadness the bleak and barren realm, the sky was ashen, the ground effortlessly turning into an ocean of black sand, and then there was an undetected scent that made her heart coward in fear. Despite the charmless scenario she was facing, Alora forced herself not to get emotional, much less discouraged. Kalum had been her only source of comfort and emotional strength for so long, and now it was her turn to be strength for the both of them, just like he had done in the past.
The God of Thunder watched with intensity as his love tended to their unconscious friend, azure eyes had faded into a stormy gray as conflict clouded his judgment. It would be an understatement to say Thor had experienced an eventful twenty-four hours. From finally having the courage to proclaim his love to the Egyptian Descendant to his mother's untimely and fatal death. Now he has committed the highest form of treason, dragging his loyal friends into his mess, and freeing his mischievous brother to aid him on his quest to save a friend and pay vengeance to their mother's death.
"Is that jealousy I see in you, brother?" Loki spoke in his usual silvery tone, Thor clenched his jaw and straightened his posture.
Loki observed him with an empty look, his eyes no longer twinkling with mischief, but anger. "Or is it fear?"
Thor turned to his brother, narrowing his eyes at him. "I am not afraid."
"Of course, of course," Loki replied humbly as he continued to maneuver the ship. "When has the great Odinson ever been afraid? Pardon my ignorance, son of Odin."
Thor glanced at him as he said those last words, before glancing back to Alora and Kalum. Loki observed him, studied his micro-expressions, searching for an entrance to the secret vault of Thor Odinson's fears. His azure eyes rested on the figure of Alora Stark, Loki watched his eyes flicker with different sets of emotions, but there was one that really did catch him off guard. Fear. But Loki was perceptive enough to know he wasn't afraid of the battle that lay ahead of them. Thor Odinson was afraid of failing them, he was afraid of not honoring his promise as protector.
Sometimes Loki found himself feeling jealous of how ferocious his brother's protection towards mortals were. He wondered what made him so undeserving of his protection and of his respect, he wondered many things, but Loki was far from voicing his sentiments to his brother at this precise moment.
