"Ro, how much more time? Why is this so slow?" complained Aarohi. They were in the mall, heading to The Fashion House, which belonged to Prena.
"Roohi, it's normal. Don't overreact. You will see them soon," said Rahul. But he could only laugh at his wife's excitement to see her BFFs, her soul sister. From home to the mall, she kept asking him if she looked okay, if they would be angry, if they would scold her for not calling, and so on. She was even practicing their favorite song. The only time he had seen her this excited was when signing the marriage register.
"Ro, where do we have to go?" asked Aarohi again. "See, inside the store. They are there. Let's go," said Rahul, and she dragged him as she started running. They soon reached the store and found no one there. She let go of his hand and started running around to look for them. She spotted Avni coming out of the dressing room, and she froze in her place.
"Roohi, what happened? Why aren't you going to see her?" asked Rahul. "What if she says she doesn't recognize me?" "How can she forget you? You are her best friend. Go, go and meet her." "No, no, Ro, I can't go and see her. She won't talk to me. She didn't for so many years. Let's leave it like this. Let's go," she said and turned, pulling him along. But she stopped as she heard a voice saying,
"You know, when I was 19, a girl saved me, slapped me for trying to commit suicide. She was very angry and didn't talk to me for a week. But she started talking again when she heard about her soul sister and me dating. We promised that even if we didn't meet for a decade, we would talk again. She said she would find us, but now I see she is running away from us."
"They say forever promises are always broken. She only loves herself, not her friends."
"Neil, what are you talking about alone?" asked Avni.
Aarohi turned to see Neil with a disappointed face and Avni with a confused expression. The next second Avni saw her, Aarohi hugged her tightly, her soul sister, her best friend. "You, you are real, right? It's not my imagination, right?" said Avni, reciprocating the hug.
"This is nice. All the work was done by me and Rahul, and she isn't even seeing me," said Neil. Upon hearing this, Aarohi hugged him. "I missed you guys."
"You could have called us. We didn't change our numbers," said Avni. "Did you guys get blank calls on birthdays, anniversaries?" asked Aarohi.
"You idiot, only blank calls? We asked Vatsal everything, but you should have spoken to us on your own," said Avni. Soon, a staff member approached them. "Mr. Kapoor, I am the store manager. Ma'am called us and informed about your arrival. We have kept all the dresses ready. You guys just have to try them."
"Sure, we will come. Can you wait for a few minutes? We are meeting a few old friends," said Rahul. "Sure, sir," said the manager.
"Wait, you are Mr. Kapoor. That means tomorrow is your anniversary?" asked Avi. "Didn't you say you asked Vat?" I said. "I asked, but didn't mention that he refused to tell. He never said anything. He just told me you got married and have two kids, nothing more and nothing less. You know, today we got an invitation for your anniversary," said Avni.
"Yeah, I wanted my wife's friends to attend when we are in their living city," said Rahul. "Ro, did you plan everything from the start, like challenging me and not bringing a gift?"
"Oh, I didn't plan not bringing a gift, Roohi. Neela Ma didn't let me get one," said Rahul. "Ma is here?" asked Avni. "Yeah, tomorrow, on the anniversary, we will be meeting her too," said Neil unconsciously. Suddenly, his ears started paining. "Ahh, Avi, what the hell?" cried Neil in pain. "You knew everything but didn't tell me? Aru's husband did tell her about the meeting, and you?" said Avni.
