My mind was swirling with so many questions that it felt like a complete mental takeover. Did I really know Seokyung at all? Doubt struck me as I wondered if they were talking about the same Seokyung I believed was waiting for me back home.

-------

Dad had confined me to my room, forbidding anyone from seeing me. Amidst the solitude, I found myself surrounded by old belongings, reminiscing about the life I had before leaving that house for good. Hours passed, and a team of stylists entered, busying themselves with my touch-ups. I didn't bother asking them anything because I knew they wouldn't respond. Seated at my vanity, I stared at my lifeless reflection in the mirror while enduring the constant brushing of sprays through my hair. One stylist tugged at the strap of my dress, applying heavy concealer to a mark I had. The ache in my heart surpassed the physical pain caused by the glass bottle that left that mark. A bobby pin was inserted into my hair, almost piercing my skull.

It was 5pm when I was brought outside, revealing almost a thousand people. I kept my head low and didn't speak to anyone. I was forced to get on the stage and exchange rings with Shin Ji sung. Never in my life had I felt so helpless and broken. Everybody clapped and raised a toast as several cameras were flashing my eyes. That's when I got engaged. WITH A STRANGER.

Returning to my room, I collapsed onto the floor, overwhelmed with a sense of powerlessness. I thought about Seojun, who was likely waiting for me in our apartment. Memories of the Christmas lights we hung together and the uneaten strawberry cookies flooded my mind. Staring at the ceiling, I knew I had to return to Seojun as soon as possible.

Not even an hour had past of the engagement, a helper brought a white gown that was apparently my "wedding dress". It was undoubtedly the most gorgeous gown I've ever seen.

"Do you like it my daughter?", Joo Dan Tae spat peeking from the door of my room

"Do you like it my daughter?", Joo Dan Tae spat peeking from the door of my room. I got it designed from Loren Diaz from Paris for my beautiful princess, he added with a disgusting smile.

"I love it appa!", I replied with a fake smile. I knew what I was gonna do. I was getting married tonight if I didn't escape.  The stylists made me change into the gown and started doing my makeup again. I couldn't escape if I was surrounded my so many people. So, I asked the stylist team to get out and leave me alone with the helper.  When she wasn't looking, I grabbed a nearby flowerpot and smashed it on the back of her head. With a single hit, she fell on the ground.

I felt extremely bad for doing that but I had no other choice. I decided to take my gown off and wear the helper's clothes so that nobody would recognize me. As I took off the helper's jacket, the stylists knocked on the door to come in. I realized that changing would take a lot of time so I just rushed with the wedding gown flowing 10 meters on the ground. Taking the backdoor, I reached Joo Dan Tae's store room. I knew he had a pathway down there which he thought he had managed to keep it "secretly". I could neither jump from 100th floor of the penthouse neither use the gate without 1000 people seeing me so it was my last option. I thankfully found a pair of scissors and with that, I cut off the lower half of my gown.

"Ah hah! here goes 5 million", I whispered to myself as I escaped from Hera Palace successfully through the not so secret path.

Emotions were rushing inside of me and I couldn't even label how I was feeling. I was desperate to see Seojun and fall back into the warmth of his embrace. He was the only person on this earth who had ever made me feel like I deserve to be loved.

I could no longer wait for us to be together. With only him in my thoughts, I ran tirelessly all the way to our apartment. My legs grew tired, threatening to give way at any moment, but I didn't care about anything except him. Tears streamed down my face, yet I was oblivious to them.

As I ascended to our apartment, my heart pounded rapidly, but a sense of tranquility settled over me, knowing I was back in my safe haven. I opened the door and broke down in tears as soon as I stepped inside. Seojun stood by the window, and as soon as he spotted me, he rushed toward me and lifted me up.

"I missed you," I whispered.

"Me too, Seokyung-ah," he replied.

I held him tightly, feeling his warmth through the fabric of his shirt.

"Seojun, I have something to tell you. I've wanted to say this for so long, and being away from you for a few days made me realize how foolish I was for not telling you sooner. I remember the day we first met. You captured my heart and made it skip a beat. You've been the brightest spot in my life ever since. When I sleep, I dream of you. When I work, we work together. When your heart beats, mine beats in rhythm. Not a single day has passed without you on my mind. And when I think of you, the biggest smile spreads across my face.

I feel warmth all over, and my heart skips a beat whether we're on the phone or simply in the same room. Your absence made me understand the depth of my feelings for you."

"Seojun, I love-"

"Let's end this, Seokyung. Let's not be together," Seojun interrupted, leaving a deafening silence in his wake.
