@leah_blessyou... hi?
...
"Where were you?"
The world is thrust upon ambiguity when the priority is especially mattered through human and their distinctiveness.
I was not a frog in a well.
I encountered people.
And so it is a bemusement to, for all that, watch how the crowd lowered their eyes when they spoke to him, the way they went silent and attentive when he shifted his seat.
"I was outside, father." I answered.
But then again, father is not just my father.
"May I remind you this is not a children's party? Act accordingly, daughter." Father only stated.
I know. It was not a reprimanding of my recent actions but his simply indication. I already know.
"I apologize, father." But I found myself apologizing anyhow.
In reflex, I abruptly stood straighter when father settled his bleak gaze over to meet mine. I unconsciously caught my breath when silence haunts the seconds between us.
"Sit." He demanded before averting his attention somewhere else. Tumango ako bago umupo ako sa tabi nitong upuan. I took a glimpse of father's inscrutable expression.
Should I.. should I probe for his concern? I should know the things that ought to be fix.
"Happiest Birthday, dear." My attention was diverted ahead - narrowing into the speaker with the most refined grace I have noticed this evening.
"Forty-one years had already pass but it only felt like yesterday when we first met." It was the wife of Alfred and the mother of Rain. She may have stood with such sophistication but her eyes has been telling otherwise. It landed softly to her husband, expressing more than words could offer.
"I suppose guise are tolerated in this household." My senses was preplexed by my father's remark. My eyes cast promptly back but father's look only remained ahead like the rest.
"You tell your family you love them, they will pretend to believe you. Your family tell they love you, you will pretend to believe them. It is only pretending to be loved and to love." Father cast his hollowed gaze, dominating over me.
"Isn't it despicable, daughter?" I looked up to his hollowed regard and remained muted, refusing to plunge into the void of past.
Past...
Father again directed his look ahead whilst mine remained to his.
"Their pretense of being diplomats - only to brought this enormous prestige. I mean, I do concur, the exploit for good reputations are quite an endeavor."
"What do you mean, father?"
"Alfred is convinced his wife is guilty of infidelity. Contrarily, Alfred's wife, Reva, is dubious about the loyalty of Alfred. These inconsequential two, only fooling themselves for the sake of reputation."
Huh?
"But it was not what I meant to tell you, daughter." Father followed.
Teka... what about the parents of Rain? I was having an overwhelming sensation. All those information being forcibly knocked through.
"I have met your cohorts. Such buffoon those two." I gulped the about-effort of asking my father for the means he pertained.
"Do utilize your intelligence when it comes to human relation, Brooklyn. I have come to an understanding where you come by that fool of a behaviour of yours."
