The italic scene you're about to read is the following timeline (a year after) from the chapter four (yes, the italic one too). You can't probably recall what happened due to my long updates (hehe) kaya you can give it a skim, to brush recollection lang. Thanksss....
"Where are you?" Father's voice was baritone, singularly clear and far-reaching. I have to respire audibly in conducive of recovering even the slightest ease.
"I-I fancied for a.... proper meal, father. I'm currently outside the school campus." But I do not have something to hide, what is it that brought me to this.. tiptoing?
I caught Atlas taking his momentary glimpse from the rearview mirror to swiveling his gaze, meeting mine. Yes, that's it. We only fancied for a proper meal, it is not a must of being especially heedful concerning with my replies.
Seconds had pass but the medium between father and I remained muted indicating for our silence.
"May I ask why, father?" I attempted to probe through.
"Brooklyn.." I caught the sound of his breath that hailed familiarity; his pull of dissatisfaction.
Huh?
Pero bakit?
"Ah.." I should have notice how my fingers clung from my burnt, involuntarily and forcibly dragging my fingers to it. Napatingin bigla sa'kin ang lalaki ng marinig ang mahinang daing ko.
"You okay?" Atlas asked.
"I will be home. We will talk." Then the end notes of a call being ended wrangled with the biting pain I have on my neck. The blister was now gone while the dead skin fell off to my finger, already clinging. I advertently bore my gaze to it, firmly dismissing the pain instead.
"You okay, Brook?" Ulit nito. I fix my hair, dragging the majority along to my right shoulder.
"Just drive, Atlas." I breathed and dismiss his look of apprehension.
"Hey.." Ani nito.
"Do you want to... skip school? We can drive somewhere else." He stopped for the red light and fully regarded my face. Napakunot bigla ang noo ko ng marinig ang proposisyon nito.
"What rubbish are you talking about, Atlas? Are you mad?" It was clear how my vehement opposition countered his proposal. Skip class? Drive somewhere else? I thought he would at least know how outrageous that sound is.
"Look around, everything's too loud, Brook. Kahit kalahating araw lang na pahinga, I'll make sure you'll have a breather." Ngumiti ito while tapping his fingers to the steering wheel.
How his gentle smile appeared, how his soft tapping can be analagous with the soft yellow rays knocking through, I realized again how Atlas embraced the thought of being mellow and euphoneous. His pull was so strong, I realized again - though we have the same blue sky - ours does and will always do not meet.
"Just drive, Atlas. Take me back already." I tore my gaze and gaze my biting yellow instead.
"Okay.." He murmured before stepping on the gas, indicating for our green light.
---
"You eaten na ba?" I did not look at Carol when she partake her concern. I occupied the seat next to hers and only patiently waited for the commencement of class.
"Brook? Kumain ka na ba?" But apparently, she cannot hold back her probing as always. I drew a sigh and dropped my gaze to her.
"Oo, kumain na ako." I stated with such obvious indifference. Carol bit her lower lip and lower her gaze. Tumingin muli ako sa unahan at hindi na ito pinansin.
