The next few days flew by quickly, and the Seven Quality Trials had commenced in a sizeable looking school that held the trainee freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors only. Knowledge was the first to pass, and tension sewed many seniors' faces. Tarion was sitting at his desk in history class, patiently waiting for the professor of it to arrive. His face rested on his fist as he twirled his dagger in his fingers. Katrina and Eugene were not in first-period history with Tarion, so he had nothing else better to do, but it was going to be a very long day. First, all the senior trainees had to complete their tests, and if some of them managed to get good grades in all their classes, they passed the first trial.

The door to the classroom creaked open, and Tarion sheathed his dagger in the hidden holster of his sleeve when he saw Professor Alardus enter. Everyone in the room grew silent at the sight of the professor-wearing his badge like all the other professors-and gave him their full attention. Professor Alardus was a very laid-back man, and he always seemed to enjoy teaching his classes.

"Good morning, everyone," the professor spoke mellowly. "It's finally the day, and I hope you're all prepared." He grabbed a stack of parchment from his desk and started to pass one out to each trainee. "Now remember, think of this test as living in the past. History tells stories, and those stories have integrity. Succeed in writing down the correct answer, and I can guarantee you will get a good grade." After passing out the parchment, the professor then stood in front of the classroom with his arms behind his back. "If there are no questions, let us begin, and may Dibium be by your side."

Tarion took hold of his quill sticking in the inkpot near him and prepared to write down his answers. Professor Alardus asked the first question, and when he did, the icy blue-eyed teen knew the answer right away and jotted it down. After that, he had no problems putting down the answers to each question asked, and he never once looked hesitant. Tarion felt like Dibium was on his side.
