"It was always you. I was confused and I made some mistakes-"
"And I moved on."

Kit is a college dropout who returns to his home town where he struggles to find his place in life. Right with him is Teshia who he reunited with in college but she is...
"You're going to visit every break you get right?" I nodded quickly while trying to fish my plane ticket out of my backpack. My mother clung to my arms and hands while trying to give me goodbye kisses and hugs. I was already behind schedule and didn't have time for the extras. "Call me when the plane lands and don't forget to put your phone on airplane mode. I heard planes crash due to the frequencies and stuff like that."
The moment I pulled out my ticket I took her hands into mine and looked her straight in the eyes. This happened to calm the worried expression on her face and give me a bit of room to breathe. "Mom. I will call you when I land. I will put my phone on airplane mode. I will buy you all the roses in the world. Anything it'll take for you to let. Me. Go." She looked down at our hands and saw hers gripping on to my wrist. "I love you."
"I love you too, son. You're making the right decision. Although I wish it was still in the same state."
"Tell dad I'll see him on the flip side and let Ryan know he sucks at basketball. Don't let Maya touch my shit in storage and tell Tyler that if he twists his knee just a few degrees to the right then those field goals would look sweet on screen."
With one last kiss on her forehead, I was through security and sitting in the section where the flight to Baton Rouge was taking off. I couldn't help but glance around and wait impatiently to see Nova. We got seats next to each other and she got into the program last week. Just in time for school to start and for us to kick off what is to be the beginning of our lives. I did a lot of running around these last few days and it will pay off.
I know it.
"Flight 183 boarding in 30 minutes. Please have your tickets ready to be scanned at the gate!"
"What on earth is she doing?"

I never knew with Nova. Sometimes she could be predictable and sometimes she could be as random as flipping through a book and stopping on any page it allowed. This wasn't a situation where I wanted random Nova. I needed predictable Nova to show up for me. Things were locked in and this wasn't a situation to flake on.
"Now boarding group A!"
I looked at my ticket and saw that I was group B. It was $50 less but still have the opportunity to get a good window seat for Nova. She wanted to take pictures of the clouds. She was set on taking pictures of the damn clouds.

"God dammit, Nova."
"Now boarding group B! Please have your tickets ready to scan."
I saw the crowd rushing to the gate and I didn't want to risk sitting in the way back. With one last look around I got the message whether she sent one or not. Grabbing my bag, I slug walked it to the boarding line. They scanned my ticket, I found the best seats ever making sure to leave a space between me and the window. I could imagine her next to me if all else fails.
"Your bag is too big for under seat placement so can you put it in the overhead bin?" The flight attendant told a man who sat next to me.
When he got up to follow directions, a woman squeezed in front of his chest and flagged me down. "Is anyone sitting there?" She pointed to Nova'a seat which hurt to even think about.
"Uhm... no. You can-"
"Yes! That's my seat." My eyes bursted out of my head when I saw Nova politely dismiss the woman who went further down the plane to find a new seat. "So sorry I'm late. My driver literally took every shortcut to avoid the constant traffic in California. Don't know what he was thinking."
"Just know you scared the shit out of me! Why weren't you replying to any of my texts?"
"I silenced my phone because my mom was sending me a million websites on what to do when you move across the country." She gave me a sympathetic look that no man could argue with. "I'm sorry. I really am. This is huge, Kit. I was not going to bail on you. If I did miss the flight then bet you I'd be on the next one.
"I just... I didn't want to do this without you. I'm doing this because of you." I slipped my hand into hers which made her blush in excitement. "Want to know what I'm going to do when we land?"
"What? Did you search up the cliche tourist destinations in Louisiana."
"Oh no. It's even better." I reached in my pocket to pull out my phone and check the time briefly. "Airplane mode. Don't forget."
