Chapter 3- Heart Hurting

At the Lester Offices. Madam Brandina was waiting for her report from Morris. She wanted to know what her granddaughter had put herself in. She was very cautious with her family reputation.

"Madam this is the report." Morris handed her the file he had made on Charlie.

"Yes, Morris you never let me down. We will use this to stop whatever she is putting this family into." She was excited as she received the file from her right-hand man.

Brandina was not a fan of true love or the related innuendos. As she promised Francis's family she would marry off her granddaughter to their family. She always delivered her promises and she was not going to let Kate just destroy her plans.

Kate and Charlie were getting closer to each other. She spent much of her time with him as he was recovering. He was happy and contented with her presence. His aunt was happy too finally he had someone other than her in his life.

Spending more time with him meant more surveillance for her and her new friend. She thought her family had stopped after she threatened her grandmother. She was truly a happy lady.

Charlie took her to the restaurant he worked at for lunch. It was a week since he knew her and it was finally ok for him to eat normal food. After eating she was full.

"Damn the food was great. I mean I have not eaten this good for a long time." Kate complimented.

"Why?" He asked.

"Since my mother passing away the time table changed. The cooking seemed to have died with her at home." She said.

"Sorry about your mother." He passed his condolences.

"It's ok am already getting used to it." She replied.

They enjoyed the afternoon together. Later in the evening she took him to the hospital to change his sutures.

She was helpful to him

Kate brought Charlie back to his home. He was phased out from the drugs he was given. Kate helped him to his bed.

"You are so beautiful." He said as the drugs took its effect.

"Yes yes, I am. Rest now your aunt is coming back soon." She put him well on his bed.

"Kate please stay until Aunt Rachel comes back." He requested.

"Yes of course Charlie I will not go anywhere." She covered him with a blanket.

She went to the kitchen and made him soup. After it was ready she helped him drink it. Like a baby, he felt and she surely made it feel safe for him to eat like one. Kate enjoyed taking care of him.

Miss Rachel came from her work and found her seated with Charlie's head on her lap.

"You two are getting more comfortable with each other." She complimented.

Kate smiled and moved Charlie aside then stood up to help her with the luggage she had. Miss Rachel and Kate got to talk and she finally knew who her family is. She couldn't figure out how could so different from her other family members. She stayed over until late night. After which she returned back home.

The next day she woke up did her morning workout. As she continued her former best friend. The one who slept with her boyfriend came to visit her.

"You have the nerves to show your face in my house" she spoke as she saw her approaching with caution.

"Listen Kate am really Sorry what I did was wrong and I regret it very much please forgive me." She replied.

"Don't play with me Letti you knew he is my boyfriend and you knew you were my best friend so please don't poke the bear." Agitated by her excuse she stopped her workout and looked at her with a lot of anger expressed on her face.
