Markus exits his classroom with a sigh, arms carrying a crate full of fragile potions.

He carefully makes his way to the lab when a door slams into his face.

Markus frantically jumps and catches the box before they shatter as three people voice their apologies.

A cool, almost musical voice flows from his lips. "As long as these don't break, there's no harm...although my nose would disagree."

"Wow he sounds just like I imagined Callum in my Azura book." A girl dressed as an abomination says .

"Sorry again Markus." Augustus and Willow say before heading off.

Markus carefully walks the rest of the way to the potions lab and knocks on the door.

"Enter." A older woman commands.

He opens the door and places his potions down for judgment.

Sharp nails grasp onto a potion and brings it closer to her dull eyes. She then pops the cork and a pleasant aroma fills the room.

Her eyes narrow as she plugs it back in.

"You fail, get out."

"What?" Markus shouts.

"These potions are perfect, I maximized their effects, I made them pleasant to drink and smell! What possibly did I do to fail?" He asks.

The woman stares blankly at him, "They were shaken."

"...Pardon?"

"You failed to present these to me in pristine condition. You have offset the balance by shaking it. You fail."

"With all due respect mam, but these potions are mostly used while the person is in motion. They are inevitably going to get shaken by the consumer or the shipping handlers."

"Are we going to have a problem Mr. Vole? It's already a shame that I have to call your aunt about your failure, do you want to add disrespect to it as well." She arches a brow, failing to hide a smug smirk on her wrinkled face.

Markus frustratedly grits out, "My project was to deliver a crate of healing, speed, and energy potions suitable for Coven scouts. I have clearly surpassed the standard supplies they receive and I should receive a grade that reflects that."

"Go to the principal's office since you refuse to listen and take those unacceptable potions with you."

Markus glares and grabs his potions before opening the door.

"It's a shame your aunt has to deal with such a failure of a nephew." The woman says before he slams the door shut.

Markus ignores the whispers following his form as he approaches Principal Bump's office.

To his surprise he sees Amity Blight sitting in one of the chairs.

She looks at the potions then at him silently asking "Again?"

He sighs and nods before sitting across from her.

A teacher walks out and leaves with Amity and Markus walks in.

"Markus, having problems with Mrs. Abilene again?" He asks making room for the potions on his desk.

"Yes sir, she failed me because 'I offset the balance by shaking it'." He slouches in the seat as PB arches a brow.

"That's a new one. Do you mind if I?" PB trails off.

"Go ahead, they are made to be used." Markus says. A grin spreads across the older man's face as he pops open a stopper.

"Mmmm. These smell amazing, and I imagine they taste just as good." PB continues.

"They do. You can keep some if you want. Just in case you need a little pick me up during the day." Markus smiles.

"Thank you, you can go ahead to your next class. I have to take a closer look at someone's abomination." PB sighs, putting a few energy potions in his robe.

Markus grabs the crate and heads out the door, "See you later Principal Bump."

10 minutes later.

Markus looks around in confusion as the school locks down around him, stranding him by lockers.

"What the-WOAH!" A vine slams up against the left wall making him jump back in shock.

A few seconds later the barrier dissipates and Willow and the girl dressed as an abomination run past.

Markus' eyes follow the vines up to see PB suspended in the air.

"Principal Bump! I got you, just stay calm."

Markus draws a circle and slaps his hands on both sides, squishing it between his hands as the connect.

Translucent steps appear in the air heading up to where PB is watching with awe.

Markus runs up the Soundwaves and rips him free before running back down with PB over his shoulder.

He quickly dispels the stairs, but not before a certain protagonist sees it.

"Don't tell my Aunt I was using Bard magic." Markus begs after he puts PB down.

"Markus." He starts making said boy look down in shame.

A hand lands on his shoulder making him look up to see Principal Bump smiling.

"That was some impressive magic Markus, but don't worry your secrets safe with me."

Markus sighs in relief before realizing, "Shoot! I'm late for her class. See you in your office later."

Markus runs off as Principal Bump sighs  in amusement and pity for his favorite student.

Markus opens the door and dodges to the side as a mild explosion potion is thrown at him.

"Look the Vole Disgrace is here. Failing your project wasn't enough you had to disrupt the class as well." The teacher scowls.

"Get out! I only teach witches with a future in this class and if can't arrive on time then you clearly have no future." She pushes him out and slams the door.

Markus picks himself up and winces as his arm burns.

He peeks at his arm to see small pieces of glass, burn marks, and cuts peaking out from his torn yellow sleeve.

Drawing a small circle, he pulls out the glass and drops them in his free hand.

Markus throws the glass in a nearby trash can and heads to his locker to grab a potion.

A sweet taste of fresh fruit fills his mouth as a soothing chill spreads across his arm, healing it.

Instead of heading to PB's office, he sits on the steps outside. He looks at the empty potion in his hand before throwing it with a frustrated yell.

Markus places his head in his hands and silent tears flow as his necklace glows faintly, a familar voice screaming inside his head.

Far away, The Owl Lady picks up the bottle that landed near her. 'Property of Markus Vole'

"Vole huh?" She muses, before walking inside her home.

"Hey Luz, what do you know about this Markus?" She asks as the door closes behind her.
