Jace's POV
"GET OFF HIM!"

I saw a blurry person in front of me.

"I-I can't see you."

"What?!"

"You're all blurry."

"WHAT?! O-oh god!"

It went black. I felt someone holding my hand. I heard a sniffle.

"Hey. I-it's me. It's Evelyne. I-I'm due at the end of next month. I found out what it is. It's a girl. I wish you were there when, I found out. I'm scared...I'm scared I'll have to go through this alone. They're talking about letting you go tonight. I'll be there. I-I know it's going to hurt like hell but, I-I don't want you to be alone."

I heard a sniffle again.

"Jesus Christ...this is harder than I thought it would be. Jonah's in jail. I thought you'd go peacefully knowing."

I heard her start crying.

"Can you do something for me? Can you do something to give them a reason to, not pull the plug?"

I felt a tear go down my face.

Evelyne's POV
"A-are you crying?"

That didn't convince them at all. Then...the time came. I kissed his forehead them pressed ours together.

"Goodbye Jace. I'll always love you."

I felt a hand go on the back of my head. I put my hand on top of it. I felt Jace. I picked my head up. I saw him staring at me. My face lit up.

"Baby! O-oh my god!"

I ran and had someone come in. When he was taken off the ventilator, he started coughing. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"H-hey."

"Hi!"

He cupped my face. I put my hands on top of his.

"Thank god! I-I was seconds away from, losing you! H-how do you feel?"

"L-like shit. Hey I'm able to see you now. H-how long was I out?"

"I honestly lost track of time. I've missed you so much!"

"I missed you too. I heard everything you said."

"Really?"

He nodded.

"They really got him?"

"Yes. They really got him."

He smiled.

"Great."

He put his hand on my stomach.

"She's been very active lately."

He kept smiling.

"That's great. When can I go home?"

"Don't worry about that right now."

"But...I hate hospitals."

"I know. I do too."

"It's a girl? It's really a girl?"

"Yes. You're gonna be a girl dad."

He smiled. He was in the hospital for a few days. I stayed at his house to help. I helped him catch up with school too. One morning, we didn't want to get outta bed.

"I don't wanna get up."

"Same."

He pressed our foreheads together.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"Not giving up on me."

We both smiled.

"You're welcome. You seriously thought, I'd let them..pull the plug?"

He kissed me.

"I was a bit scared. I thought, y-you'd lose me. I thought...you'd be a single mom."

"Oh no. That thought came back?"

"Yes."

"Baby...why do you worry about that?"

"I've almost died a few times. I-I'd never rest well, knowing that I left you, like that."

"You have to stop overthinking. There's something we need to talk about."

"You're talking about the rape, aren't you?"

"Yes. I am. Why did you hide it?"

"I honestly block it out. It usually comes back when, I see him."

"Did you ever tell anyone?"

"I-I don't think so. I-I thought...no one would believe me.."

"Did he tell you that?"

"Yes."

I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I wish you told me. I believe you. 100%."

He started holding me tighter.

"T-that means so much to me."
