Kuchisake-Onna or the slit-mouthed woman is a Japanese urban legend. Often seen to be covering her lower face with a surgical mask, she is known to carry with her a log pair of scissors. She is described by many to be having long, black, straight hair, and pale skin, and is considered beautiful. According to the legend, she asks her chosen victims, if she is beautiful or not. If they answer with a no, she kills them immediately. if they answer with a yes, she removes her mask and asks them the same question. If they still answer yes, she will cut the corners of their mouth in such a way that resembles her disfigurement. If they say no, they will be killed. Known methods to escape are to distract her with hard candy, answer her with "you're average", and/or ask if she thinks you're pretty. And when she is distracted, run. As fast as your legs can carry you. away from Kuchisake-Onna.
