☁︎︎☀︎︎☘︎︎ "Millie!"

It was a windy day when I set off with JJ. He thought that we should surf, well, I guess he can't take all the credit, since John B was the one who said that they should surf. JJ followed along with it. I grab my board and take off with JJ beside me.
He smiles at me and then continues on his way. The waves are terrific, how big and strong they are.
I have always had a passion for surfing, ever since I was a little girl, and I spotted a teen girl riding alongside the waves. Hurricane Agatha arrived exactly when it was supposed to. My Stepdad, Kade, didn't take too kindly to it when I told him I might be out during a Hurricane, but here I am, surfing during a freaking Hurricane.
My wavy streaks of brown hair stick to my skin, and I pick them off.
When a wave washes past me, I laugh, and JJ laughs also.
My board is slippery, though, and when I gigantic wave comes crashing towards me, I don't stand a chance.
I fall in the water.
John B made JJ go surfing during Hurricane Agatha, and now I'm drowning. I don't get why they did it, and now I'm going to die on the shores of my home land.
"Millie!" JJ shouts. I can barely see the outline of his body as he dives in the water. My eyes drop, and then all I can see is darkness.
♒︎
I cough up water, as I feel somebody's hands slide off me.
"Mills?" JJ says, as my eyes focus on him. "JJ...is that you?" I blink, and realize it is him. But he answers that anyway, by saying that it is him. "I fell in the water during a Hurricane."
"Yes you did," JJ chuckles.
Are his eyes watery? I can't tell.
"John B!" I scream, trying to make a joke.
I look around me for a sign of him, but he's nowhere. I take in where we are with a bang. We're at the dock. A few boats are just mindlessly floating there, tied up. But John B's not here. I look toward the sea, and see him swimming towards us, with his board on his belly.
"Mills! You won't believe what I just saw—"
"That stupid idea you thought of totally almost killed me!" I yell at him, not angry exactly, but joking.
"What? What do you mean it almost killed you?" He says back to me.
"A stupid wave! Hurricane Agatha!" I yell in his direction.
"Holy shit! You're kidding!" He starts running towards me, probably trying to see if I'm OK.
"Are you alright? Anything hurt?"
"No, I'm alright. It was fun, actually."
JJ chuckles. "Thanks for the good spirit, Mills," he says. "Gotta get headed home, I snuck out. Kade will kill me if he finds out what I did." I say, sighing.
"Why not you just come stay with us? You know, in John B's house," JJ asks me.
"Because my Mom might come home one day, and when she does, I want to be there," I say in return.
My Mom got lost at sea nine months ago, actually on the exact same day that John B's Dad got lost at sea. We've both wondered why they were looking for what they were looking for, and why they got lost at sea. We don't believe they're dead.
Who disappears at sea these days?
Now I linger in and out of the house, sometimes I do stay at John B's house, but usually only for a night or two.
John B's Dad used to always welcome me, but he is gone now. He was looking for a shipwreck with my Mom, I think it was something like the Royal Pearl or Merchant or something like that.
It's so weird, and I try not to think about it at night.
It makes me queasy and nervous about what they might have been doing on the night they went missing.
I keep thinking the same thing. What if something bad happened to them?
JJ helped me up, and together we walked to John B's house so I could get some of my belongings I left there before the Hurricane.
It was hard walking, though, because the Hurricane was still happening, and we kept on having to run out of its way.
Finally we got to John B's house, and the Hurricane was getting worse.
I can't walk in that anymore.
"Guess you'll have to stay here for the night," JJ says, smirking like it was his idea all along. I'll text Kode about it when I find my phone," I say.
"Where's your phone?" John B asks me, which makes me wonder where my phone is.
"Somewhere in your house," I guess. "Is this even a house?" JJ mutters.
Well, I mean, in my opinion, if it has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom it counts as a house.
But a kook would say it's a shed, a lonely, rotting down shed compared to what lifestyle they live in. I live in Outer Banks, an island off the coast of North Carolina. It's known for being "paradise on earth" but if you're a Pogue, you know that's not the case. The island is split into two parts, Figure Eight, and the Cut, which is where my friends live. I live in Figure Eight, but only because of Kode.
We used to be broke, living in the Cut. That's where I met  JJ, and John B. Later I met this girl Kiara, who at the time was a new Kook.
See, this island is the kind of place where you either have two houses, or two jobs. Kiara is in the middle, because her family has their own family business, and only has one house, which is a nice, good looking place.
Figure Eight is where the Kooks live. The rich side of the island. Where I live, I guess you could say. Again, only because of Kode, and his annoying ass daughter, Harper.
And the Cut, which is where the Pogues live. That's JJ and John B.
Oh, and I forgot to mention Pope, the other middle dude. He's a Pogue, and he's absolutely broke, but has a good GPA and could one day be a Kook.
Honestly, it's pretty complicated if you actually were here.
Kooks v.s. pogues, you could say.
