As the compound's annual Groundhog Day party comes to a close (they seriously will use any excuse to throw a celebration), Natasha finally arrives exhausted from her mission. She walks into the communal area to find it in complete disarray. There are half empty cups everywhere, trash is littered across the room, and there's a mysterious pair of Punxsutawney Phil boxers hanging from the lamp. Steve is passed out with half of his body hanging off the couch.

Normally, Natasha would find this alarming but she immediately spots the nearly empty bottle of Asgardian mead on the table and is actually rather impressed that the compound doesn't look worse. She pours herself a glass of vodka and starts to head towards her room but finds a very drunk Bucky Barnes asleep in the hallway outside her door.

She pauses and looks down at him, rolling her eyes. She really doesn't feel like dealing with this right now. Her whole body aches thanks to the 12 men she had to take down alone thanks to their shitty intel. But she can't leave him like this.

She takes out her phone and snaps a quick picture before bending down to gently nudge him awake.

"James, wake up."

"Huh," he replies while rubbing his eyes with his flesh arm.

"Let me help you to bed," she smiles fondly. She has never seen him like this before. He looks so adorable. Though, she would never admit that out loud.

"What are you doing sleeping in the hallway, Barnes?" She bites back a laugh as she puts an arm around him, helping him off the floor.

"I was looking for Natasha."

He is so wasted he doesn't even realize he's talking to her. This time, she can't help but let out a giant laugh.

"Oh, and why exactly were you looking for Natasha?"

"S'cause I like Natasha. I like Natasha's eyes. They are so beautiful. SHE is so beautiful."

She unlocks her door with the biggest smile on her face. She can't wait to viciously tease him about this in the morning.

"Okay big guy, let's get you to bed." She puts him in her bed and strips off his shoes and pants. He shoves his flesh arm under the pillow as she pulls the covers over him. She quickly places a glass of water on the side table next to him before getting in on the other side of the bed.

She looks at him adoringly while gently tucking a loose piece of hair behind his ear. He mumbles something she can't understand.

"What was that?"

"I love her." He smiles while his eyes closed.

"W-what?"

"Don't tell her. Okay?"

Natasha pauses for a second. Unsure if she heard him correctly.

"Okay, I won't tell her."

She looks at him for a long time. Memorizing every inch of his face. Watching his chest fall and rise as he falls more deeply into his slumber.

"I think I love you too, James Buchanan Barnes."

Maybe she won't tease him so viciously in the morning.
