A cool breeze brushed past you as the luminescent glow of the moon lit the path to your apartment, which seemed to be never-ending. Even though you had been walking on this trail for what felt like forever, the building never got closer, as though an invisible force were keeping you away. You felt as though you were on a treadmill, making steps but never moving forward. Worry was made clearly visible over your entire being as confusion took over your mind. You could have sworn that it didn't usually take you this long to reach the stairs. Trying not to let panic overrule you, you kept your focus on your breathing and the path in front of you. A glimmer of light coming from the stairway caught your attention, however, making you spin your head in that direction. It took a moment to realize what it was, as your eyes had to adjust from the dark, but once you understood, you froze in your tracks.

A pair of footsteps made their way down the steps, revealing a figure under the moonlight; the same man from the woods, holding the same hatchet. Wasting no time, the man quickly darted in your direction. Fear overtook your entire body as you spun in the opposite direction and pushed yourself as fast as you could. However, your efforts had gone to waste, as you seemed to be only moving at a snails-pace, making everything feel as though it were in slow-motion. Confusion and panic took over you once more as you tried to force yourself to move quicker. You looked back at the figure, making your breath hitch and eyes constrict when you saw his hand reaching towards you. You were just about to let out a scream of terror as you felt his fingertips brush past your neck when-

Gasp!

Your body rushed forward as you took in sharp, shallow breathes. Your eyes darted around the area as a cold sweat ran down your forehead. You were in your room. Relief swept over you as you inhaled and exhaled a large, shaky breath and placed a hand over your racing, aching heart. It was just a nightmare, thank God. You took in a few more deep breathes to calm yourself down further before bringing your hands up to wipe away the sweat from your face. After settling down, you leaned back against the headrest of your bed. As you looked around, you took notice of how bright your room was from the sun coming through your window. You reached over and grabbed your phone off the night stand to check the time.

1:49 PM

You rarely ever slept-in these days, especially that late, and wondered about how long you were out for. You had remembered that you and your friends had planned to meet up at around 3 to get ready for the party going on later that day. Not wanting to waste time, you got up and made your way over to the bathroom to take a quick shower before leaving. Once you made your way inside, you turned on the tap to just the right temperature before stooping down below the sink to grab a towel. You placed the towel on the counter before stripping yourself of your warm and slightly damp pajamas.

Once you were fully undressed, you checked the temperature with a single hand, making sure it was alright before stepping inside. You let out a steady breath as you relished in the warm water running down you. You turned to face the water before gently closing your eyes and bringing your face under it to wash off the remaining filth with your hands. When you were done, you turned around and tilted your head back, using your finger tips to get your hair fully wet. Once it was soaked, you bent down to grab your shampoo bottle. You poured a bit into your hands before setting it back down and lathering your hands. After that, you scrubbed it into your scalp, making sure not to leave any spots uncovered. After getting it all lathered up, you leaned your head back into the water and used your finger tips to rinse out the suds.

Once you were done with that, you reached for your body wash and a rag. You squirted a generous amount of soap onto the rag before placing it back down and scrubbed the soap into the rag. After that, you scrubbed over your entire body, starting from the neck and working your way down. Once you felt you were clean enough, you squeezed out the rag and placed it over the rack before rinsing off yourself. Finally, you ran your hands over your face and through your hair one last time for good measure before turning off the tap and stepping out of the shower.
