Chapter 12: Home

Mary's POV
I open my eyes and suddenly feel tired it's only 3:25 and I shouldn't sleep yet. I sit down in my seat and eat my cheddar bites Zayn steals one and eats it he grabs another and looks at it and says triangle, he looks up at me and I say, you are such a child and he throws it at me smiling and I catch it after it hits me in the face. He grabs one and says these are spicy, I then said yea they are good too. He eats It and looks at me and then takes a drink of his pop. He stands up and kisses my head and goes upstairs to his room. I sit in the kitchen doing nothing and I turn to look at Zayn's bedroom. It's quiet I yell up to Him, Zayn! He walks out of his room and has something in his hand I can't see what it is. He puts it behind his back and wipes off his face I think he's trying to tell me something but I don't know. He drops the thing on the floor and it makes a cracking sound. I stand up and walk to him from the kitchen he sits on the top of the stairs I get to him and he says Liam wants to hang out with you for the day he wants to come to get you he just texted me and told me that you weren't answering your phone. Oh, why are you crying? He starts to talk, about who I was, then he says, it doesn't matter I'm not who I used to be. I put my hands in his hair and stand in front of him and he puts his head on my stomach. The past that you had with him isn't what it is now, is it? He lifts his head and looks at me and he said, no, of course, it's not the same with you it's, then I cut off what he was saying, what does your past relationship have to do with me? He stares blankly not believing what he just said himself, then he says it was different but the same. Liam and you were in a relationship before? He looks down at his hands after I pull away from him. Then he says, Yes, then I changed my mind after he moved in with me because I liked you; Then he left and Niall wanted to move in with me and I let him. then he pauses for a second then says, no you are living with me, and no more Niall. I look away from him and he says, we were doing just fine til now? We are fine still, do you think there is something wrong? I look back at him and he says, I thought you were mad at me for that? I'm not mad, I don't need to be. Liam wants me to hang out still probably. I grab my phone out of my pocket and Zayn brings his hand next to my face and pushes my hair back. I see all the texts from Liam and One of them asks if I want to hang out with him for the rest of the day. It's 5:00 already and it's not dark for a few more hours. I send him a text and say yea I'll hang out I have to get ready. He replies and says I'll come to pick you up how long? I say in 15 minutes. He says okay see you soon then and I put my phone in my pocket again. I tell Zayn, Liam, and I are going to hang out for the rest of the day today. He then looks up at me and says, I didn't think you would today because It's late outside. I haven't been out with Liam or anyone at all that much. I walk up the stairs and get a nice shirt and jeans. I walk into the hallway and Zayn is on the stairs still, He looks back at me and says that's a nice shirt. I turn around and he follows I go into the bathroom and look in the mirror Zayn has a band shirt on the good on him so I turn around and grab his shirt, he looks down at my hands and he says you want my shirt and he smiles. I nod my head at him and take off my shirt and he watches me take it off. He takes off his shirt and hands it to me. I check the time and in a little bit I have to go I put on his shirt and Liam texts me saying he's here. Zayn looks at me and grabs my shirt from me and says he would put it somewhere in his room. I kiss him and then say I'll see you later. Bye, Zayn says as I walk out of the bathroom he yells down to me, I love you! I call back up to him I love you too. I walk to the door and Liam is standing at the door with his hand up in the air ready to knock. He says Oh and walks back to his car. I walk out of the house and shut the door behind me. He opens the door for me and I get in, he walks around and gets in, Thank you, I tell him. He says for what, then I say Opening the door and inviting me to hang out we haven't hung out in a while so It's nice to for once. Then he said, oh okay, do you wanna go ice skating I think it would be fun. Then I say that would be fun, yea let's go. Oh, yea I do have to go to the SOML real quick to get my wallet I didn't get to go back yesterday. He takes the turn to get into town and then I say Why are you going this way the SOML is on the other side of town. He then says I'll pay and we can go there after and you can pay me then. I sigh and lean back, we are halfway to town and I can see a few lights turned on It's getting dark out and I forgot I was tired. I fall asleep and a few minutes later I hear the door slam next to me and I jolt awake. He walks in front of the car and goes inside the building in front of us. I sit in the car for a little bit and realize how dark it is. I check my phone and It's already 9: 28 I sit up and see Liam Inside the building he is talking to the person in front then the person hands him something and he smiles and walks out to my door. He unlocks the door and I lean forward and lock it again he pulls on the handle and looks at the door and his smile drops. He unlocks it again and tries pulling the handle again, I locked it before he tried again and he stopped and looked with his face having no emotions at the car door, looked away, and walked around the car. He starts laughing and opens the driver's side door he looks at me and says, let's go inside they let us go late. I get out of the car and he hands me a piece of paper that says MM I say what does this stand for and then he shows me his paper and it says LP those are your initials. I smile and say and mine he laughs and says do you know when the wedding is? I then think about if Zayn and I talked about it. I go back into reality then say "No, Zayn and I haven't talked about it yet it's only been two days since he hasn't talked about it so I haven't". He smiles and says okay. We get our ice skates and put them on. We sit on the bench outside the ice arena and Liam has his skates on before me, he stands up and looks at me. I look back down at my feet and he stomps in his skates and goes to the ice. I finally get mine on and stand up. Liam skates up to me and grabs my arm he then says even I almost fell when I stepped on the ice. I walk toward the rink and Liam grabs the side of the wall I step on the ice next to him and it becomes slippery I become able to balance and I slap Liam off of me so I can start to skate. I go in front of him to skate and he tries to go past me but I go in front of him so he slows down he then says don't be mean I'm paying for you. I then say yes but you will get your money back. He then fastly skates in front of me and says you got your hearing back. Yep, I did I was with Zayn when it happened you are the second to know I still have to tell Harry. He laughs and says that's great and hugs me. He turns around and asks do you have your phone I nod my head and he says, grabs it. I grab my phone out of my pocket and Liam grabs it from me he says take a picture with me but as a question. I grab my phone back from him and open it I hand it back to him and I'm about fall he grabs my hand and I smile at him and he makes a face and takes a picture I grab his side to pull myself up and he puts his arm around me to pull me up and takes another picture. I then say why, that picture no, then he opens it up to look at it after he got me on my feet again he shows me it, It is good a good picture of us. I'm going to post it on Instagram if that's okay with you he nods his head and then says tag me in it too. I write out a caption that says Liam My best friend is mean to me with a laughing face emoji. Then I tell him I used the second picture we took when I was falling it looks better. He laughs and says okay, I tag him and then post it. Then I say, I posted it. I put my phone in my pocket and Liam lets go of my hand and says let's skate now take up our time here so you don't have to go home I hear a ding on my phone and Liam says see what that was so then we can just have fun. I take my phone out of my pocket and see a text from Harry that says "You have your hearing back, why didn't you tell me?" I text him back and say, I was going to tell you after I was done with Liam, we both were hanging out right now. Harry then says I'm about to go to sleep I'll talk to you later, I say, K goodnight, and send it to him. I put my phone in my pocket and say, we can finally skate after this long while of interruptions, and smile at Liam, he laughs and says yea. I skate forward and Liam follows beside me, We haven't even got halfway down this half of the rink. He laughs and says being on your phone takes up a long time. I nod my head and it goes silent. The building starts playing music and it's Liam's song Strip That Down I turn away and blush because I know what the lyrics are. He then says I didn't play this or was it my idea at all. I turn my face toward him and he said don't do that to me that's not right, I cover my face and he comes up to me and pulls my hands down, and says we have to go now, this doesn't feel right for me. I say it wasn't that I liked it I just liked the lyrics to this song. Then he says, oh, I then say we can still leave if you want to. He then says, if you want to get to Zayn again I'm okay with it. I nod my head and we skate out of the rink. We get out of our skates and bring them back to the desk and tell them to thank us. We get in Liam's car and he says, this was fun we should do something tomorrow? I don't know what Zayn wants to do but I can talk to him about it. We can hang out at Zayn's house if he doesn't care. He gets onto the road home and says, yea we can all hang out he doesn't hang out with me that much anyway. He's always with me so that makes sense. Then he says, I know Zayn can't be without his partner. I look at him and say, I know that you guys had some sort of relationship with each other. He slows down the car and looks at me with a shocked face and says, he told you that? I kinda knew but he told me a little bit after I thought about it and noticed what he was trying to say I didn't know if it was what he meant until he said it. So yea he kinda told me, he thought I was mad at him for it because you're one of my best friends. Then Liam tells me, I would be mad if it was you if I was where you are at right now. I get that I know you probably would be and I don't blame you because Zayn is a good partner. We sit silently for the rest of the drive and we finally pull up to Zayn's house. I then ask Liam, how's Kate I haven't talked to her in a while or seen her at all. He looks over at me and says she's good and then says I haven't talked to her in a day or two so you can text her if you want; don't know if she's busy or if she's sleeping but I can talk to her when I get home if she's awake and not on her phone at all. Okay, Zayn comes up to the door and try's to open it but it's locked. Liam unlocks it and Zayn grabs my hand and pulls me out of the car and looks at Liam madly. Liam gets out of the car and comes around next to me and pulls Zayn's hand out of mine and says don't hurt her. Zayn grabs Liam by the shirt and hits him against the car and I flinch and step back. Liam says you better take those hands off of me. Zayn looks at me, lets go of Liam, steps toward me, and grabs my arm and I pull away from him while stepping back. He still tries to hold me but I pull out of his grip and sit on the ground. I look him straight in the eye and he kneels in front of me Liam comes next to me and puts his hand on my shoulder Zayn and I both say at the same time "Get off" but Zayn says get off her instead. Liam backs off and Zayn and I are settling down. I was scared of him for five seconds there now he seems calm now that I'm back. I stand up and tell Liam to go now and look at Zayn giving him eye contact his eyes are glossy and Liam finally walks away. Zayn's hate toward Liam leaves and Zayn lets a tear trail down his face once he couldn't see Liam. I walk toward Zayn hesitantly still scared about what he could do. I pull him away from the car and he sits in the grass still holding eye contact with me. He puts his hands on my back and pulls me toward him. Liam gets out of the car again and I cover Zayn's face with my hand Liam comes around the car and asks if he can leave and I nod my head. I put my hand on Zayn's chin while still covering his face and Liam looks down at him. I put my hand in Zayn's hair and Liam gets in his car and pulls out of the driveway. Zayn pulls his face out of my hand and peeks around me at Liam's car. I hear him chuckling and I pull away from him and I walk away toward the house, he then says hey hey hey. I hear tires screech and a car pulls up I turn around and it's Liam. he gets out of the car and run's up to Zayn and pulls him up. Zayn then says don't look at me now I probably look stupid. I look at them confused and Zayn says this was fun now here is the real surprise. He grabs my hand and I say that wasn't even a surprise Liam start's laughing and Zayn says this was a joke well some of it wasn't supposed to happen but I'm sorry for that part you just had the wrong reaction than I expected. This is stupid I turn around with Zayn's hand still in mine and he follows with Liam following behind us. I open the door to the house and see boxes by the stairs one of them is open and Zayn says go see what it is. I look back at him and he is smiling I look at Liam and he has a happy-for-me but sad-for-himself expression. I turn back around and walk into the house to the boxes I kneel and open the box that was open a little bit already. I see a picture that was put into my room when I first got it and now it's here in this box I pick it up and a bunch of other pictures that I had in my room are all here. Zayn grabs them out and sets them next to the box and pulls out a blanket that I have never seen before. He flips it around and show's me it and it says "home" in all capital letters and he says welcome home.
