Semper Iuncti - Origins to Modern Day (published 1967)

The first records of magic are majorly contradictory, but the one thing that has remained consistent is records of a euphoric feeling and a spark felt when meeting a certain other. It wasn't until 1822 that the term 'soulmate' was used. Prior to 1822, two people that felt each other's magic were referred to as 'Semper Iuncti', meaning (in Latin) 'always joined together' and commonly shortened to 'Simuls', 'together'. It is unknown why two people become Simuls.

Simuls share a bond closer than any other, a bond that usually becomes romantic but occasionally platonic, and rarer still some becomes enemies - burdened with an eternity long connection. Simuls, feel their partners magic, it is said they almost become one with the magic. Everyone's magic is said to feel different, and that it can even have a slight scent, relating to what attracts the person the most, or what they smell in amortentia potion.

Sometimes the non-magical (muggles) feel this bond with a magical. The magical in the pair cannot feel the non-magical's magic as it is not there. However, they still have the bond, and a feeling described as "sunlight in the early spring".

In the British wizarding world, many find their Simul at eleven. This usually occurs behind a wall of bricks and beside or on a scarlet steam locomotive, September 1st.
