【Zack】

My life sucks.

Seriously. Why does my mom have to be best friends with the mother of the one boy I hate with every fibre of my being? I have to put up with him, and I also have to pretend to be friends with him in front of her. Yuck. But there's something more.

I made the worst decision ever, which was to let my mom drag me into this hot mess.

I'm okay with her wanting to go to a reunion with her old friends. I'm okay that she wanted to take his mother too. But leaving me at his house so that he could have some company? Argh!!!

Being stuck with Henry is the worst. I don't think he likes having me at his house either if the way he had been glaring at me for the last fifteen minutes was anything to go by.

Half an hour had passed since both moms had left. Henry got up and left for his room. So here I am, sitting at Henry's house and regretting every minute of it. I whipped out my phone and went to YouTube. Nothing new had been uploaded by my favourite YouTubers. Sigh.

I checked Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter, but nothing caught my interest. This must be the worst day ever. My phone was running low on battery, so I plugged it in and let it charge.

I turned on the TV and flicked through many channels. The one that caught my eye was a news channel. The reporter was telling the weather forecast for today. She said it might snow today. Meh. Nothing I can't handle.

I switched off the TV and sat on the couch. I wanted to leave, but Mom would rip out my entrails if she found out. And knowing Henry, he would probably tattle me to her. Besides, she had the keys to our house, so it was either here or on the streets.

Wondering when Mom would return, I started wandering around in circles, bored out of my mind. Not knowing what to do, I resigned and went to Henry's room.

"Hey idiot, you have any books here? Or is your house as boring as you?" I asked politely. (Yes, politely)

"Ask nicely, and maybe I will tell you." He replied.

"I am being nice," I said.

"I wouldn't call that nice."

The audacity, I-

"I'm not gonna beg." I hissed. Henry glared at me. I glared back.

" Fine. Can you please tell me where the books are?" I bit out.

"Much better. Wasn't that easy?" Henry said patronisingly.

"Just tell me where the damn books are."

"Go downstairs. On your left, there'd be a red door. The room behind it has books." He said. I left the room, slamming the door shut behind me. God, he got on my nerves.

I went to the room he told me about, and it had me speechless. There were whole shelves of books! There were three shelves, and all were filled with books. There were a few beanbags here and there, and a mini table was at the centre of the room.

I looked around and found out that one of the shelves had wheels under it. Why would anyone want wheels under shelves? To move it around? I pushed the rack with wheels. It revealed another shelf of books. Just how many books were there?

I realised that the books on the secret shelf were not just books but complete volumes of mangas! Not just mangas but Chinese novels, a lot of them. I didn't know he liked these kinds of stuff.

How do I know about all of this? I like this stuff too, Mangas and Chinese novels, I mean. There was one book that I hadn't read yet, so I it took and started reading.
