"I'll take care of things here, don't worry boss!" Film says as she watches Bright scurrying around to gather his things. "And help me to wish Win a happy birthday too."
Bright thanks her, and leaves the café in his baristas' care. He was rushing home to prepare a surprise for Win as it was his birthday, and needed to set things up before Win got off work. He had also texted Dew to try and stall Win for as long as possible until he gave the green light, as he had to make sure that everything went smoothly.
"Where are we going?" Win asked for the millionth time as he sat in the car blindfolded. Bright had come to pick him up straight from work, and refused to say where they were headed.
"Be patient, we're almost there. Don't take off the blindfold yet." Bright says, occasionally turning to look at Win while he drove.
They soon arrive at their destination. Win could hear the sound of waves crashing onto the shore, and smell the familiar salty scent of the ocean. Bright held his hand and slowly led him down a path, and eventually stopped somewhere.
"And here we are." Bright said as he removed the blindfold. Win slowly opened his eyes and put on his glasses, and surveyed his surroundings. They were standing in a little hut by the beach, which was decorated with fairy lights and balloons in his favorite color. There was a banner that read "Happy Birthday Winnie" hanging from a beam. There were also many photos that they took together hanging from some strings that brought back fond memories.
"Did you prepare all this by yourself?" Win asked, gaping at the set up that was done beautifully.
"Yeah. It took me quite a while, but I think it turned out okay. Do you like it?"
"Like it?" Win replied. "I absolutely love it!"
Bright smiled to himself as he watched Win giggling at all the pictures. No other person could ever fit the definition of 'cute' in Bright's eyes, other than Win.
While Win was busy looking through the pictures, Bright had put on a party hat, lit the candle on a little birthday cake and started singing the birthday song. Win turned around to look at him, and saw the sparks of happiness that reflected in Bright's shimmering eyes.
"Happy birthday, bub." Bright said. "Hurry, make a wish before the candle melts."
"Make one for me."
"You're giving your wish to me?" Bright asked, surprised.
"Yup. Wish wisely." Win replies, beaming at him.
Bright stares thoughtfully at the candle that was becoming shorter by the second. He blew out the flame, and smiled as he put the cake down on the table. "Win."
"Yeah?"
"You can make my wish come true right now, if you're willing."
"Hm?"
Bright reached into his pocket, and pulled out a tiny black box. Win's heart started to pound, and held his breath as Bright opened the box and got down on one knee.
There was a shiny silver ring in the box that had some tiny engravings on the inner surface. Win felt the tears well up as he looked into those eyes that spoke of love, trust, and a future filled with bliss.
"Will you marry me?"
Win could no longer stop himself, and the tears flowed down his face. He could only nod as no sound would come out of his throat. Bright leapt up excitedly, and slipped the ring onto Win's left ring finger.
No words were spoken as they cherished this special moment together. There were no crowds of people cheering, no extravagant displays, and no giant spotlight - it was just the two of them in a tiny hut by the beach, surrounded by the sweet little memories they shared and loved over the months and years.
