Win didn't come into the café this morning, or in the evening either. I was starting to get worried because he never misses a day, and wondered if I had passed my sickness to him.
"You seem really distracted today, boss." Film said as we were doing the last chores for the day.
"Do I? I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I'm just worried that's all." She says with a shrug and continues sweeping the floor. "I noticed that your favorite person didn't come in today too."
I ws flustered. "What favorite person?"
"Yeah, the really tall guy with the glasses."
"There are millions of people who are tall and wear glasses, Film."
She rolled her eyes. "You know who I'm talking about, boss."
After we lock up, I wave goodbye to Film and head to the bus stop. My car is still at the workshop, and unfortunately it is going to take quite some time. From afar, I saw that there was only one person waiting there this time, and I wondered if I had missed the last bus.
"Busy day?"
Win immediately stood up and asked when he saw me approach the bus stop. He was the lone figure that had been sitting there - had he been waiting for me?
I quickly walked to him and touched his forehead. "Are you okay? Feeling tired or aching anywhere? I haven't seen you today."
"I'm okay, don't worry." He laughs as he gently pulls my hand away from his forehead. "I uh...I've been waiting for you."
"Why? Did something happen?" I ask worriedly as I pull him to sit on the bench.
"No, I just-" His stomach growls loudly before he could finish his sentence, and he scratches his temple shyly. "I haven't had dinner."
I stifled an urge to laugh and kept a straight face. "I don't think there are any shops open at this hour anymore."
"I know, it's alright."
"Do you...wanna come to my place? I have some noodles." I suggested softly. I was already bracing myself to hear the two letter word.
"That would be nice." His cheeks puff up in a radiant smile.
I was beyond elated that he agreed. I guess that was a normal reaction to someone who was my 'favorite person'.
The bus soon arrived, thankfully. We hopped on, and randomly chose a seat as there was nobody else around. Win sat near the window, and he was marvelling at the view as the bus drove along the street.
"Ooh, a corgi!" He taps my arm and points out the window. I leaned over to him to see what he was pointing at, and we were both laughing at how cute the dog was as it wagged its tail.
Win turned his head to face me, and our faces were just inches away from each other. I hadn't realised how close I had leaned to him, and the closeness made my heart pound like crazy. I cleared my throat and settled back into my seat, taking deep breaths to calm myself down.
When we arrive at my home, Win bounces over to my cat and plays with her, while I head to the kitchen.
"Do you need any help?" He asks, walking towards the kitchen cradling Ame in his arms.
"It's okay. You can be my babysitter for a bit while I cook." I chuckle.
He nods and heads back into the living room. As I cook, I hear his laughter and the sound of Ame's little paws tapping around the floor. If you didn't know, you'd think that Win was her papa if you saw how they were playing around.
