My family was really starting to get to me. I felt like I could hardly do anything without being criticised for it. I could just about go grocery shopping without my mom saying something like, "Why are you wearing that lipstick today? You look ridiculous!". You can see what I mean.
My dad had just gone for work and my mom was still at the office taking numbers. My mobile buzzed in my pocket. "Indie, I need you to go to the Wal-Mart and pick up a few things for me. I'll text you the grocery list. Love you!"
"Love you too mom."Wal-Mart was packed. My shoes slid along the shiny floor of the grocery shop as I made my way over to the bread aisle. I checked my phone again to look at the list.
"•white bread•milk•mayonnaise(the small one)•oj•shampoo(you know the one i usually get) ly x mom :)"
My phone buzzed as I skirted over to a loaf I wanted, and dropped it into the basket. It was my 'friend' Saffy. If you ask me she had always been a bit of a bitch. You know, the gum chewing party girl with bleached blonde hair and absolutely no respect whatsoever. Why was she texting me? I clicked the read button and scrolled down the page. "I hear you've made friends with Paige! Wooo babez! You now have a social life! Lol x"
I deleted the message and carried on walking round, my arm drooping slightly from the weight of the basket. As I came to the shampoo aisle, my arm gave way and I dropped the basket. Milk, bread, mayonnaise and cartons of orange juice were strewn around the floor. I could feel the heat radiating off my face, I was so embarrassed. A pretty petite blonde lady wearing a huge floppy black hat and shades walked over and started to pick the things up and put them back in my basket. I crouched down to help her. "Thanks. My name's Indie."
"I'm Mary Jane. Mary Jane Holland." She spoke with a New York drawl. I knew immediately who it was. "Gaga?!" I whispered, a shocked expression on my face. "Paws up little monster!" Gaga gave me a tiny fist bump as she straightened up. "How does no one notice you?" I whispered, not wanting to attract attention. "The shades help darling. You coming to ArtRAVE this year?"
"I wish. My mom can't afford the tickets, and even after saving up I still won't have enough."
"I'm sure we can sort something darling. Mother Monster will always be here for her fans!" Gaga wrapped her arms round me and gave me a tight hug. She smelt of men's cologne and coffee. "Before you go, I just want you to have this. Something's clicked, I'm sure, Indie darling. Byeee!" Gaga slipped a folded piece of paper into my hand and began to walk off.
