Part 2

for how many years Jean has been learning to blindly trust her comrades, because there is no other way in intelligence. It was a pleasure to work in tandem with the captain: they understood each other without words, just a glance was enough to coordinate actions.

And once again, Gene and Levi, understanding each other without words, synchronously soared high in the air. After skirting the colored houses, the facades of which already had holes from Kenny and his team's guns, Gene and Levi turned the corner. But immediately the captain was stunned with horror, and Jean could not resist and screamed at all. There, several of Kenny's soldiers were already waiting for them, guns at the ready. They began firing at the scouts immediately.

- Shit!  Levi hissed. All these years, he should only be afraid of Titans, although even hunting them for him was akin to playing catch-up. The trouble came from where they did not expect, as they say. The captain did not suspect in any way that people would be hunting him now. They probably put up flyers all over the city.

"They predicted our every move," Jean shouted back, launching the UPM hooks behind her back, Levi did the same. A moment later, the two were rushing backwards.

Jean once shamelessly stole this technique from Levi. Then she was ridiculed by her colleagues, saying that she would never become like him, don't even try. She didn't even try. I understood perfectly well that people like Levi are born once in a century. But in war, all means are good. And Jean was right, if not for this maneuver, she would have already been lying on the road, and her corpse would have successfully cooled down on the cold ground.

- Why are you running away from me, Levi?  That frightening, nasty, raspy voice rang out again. Jean looked at the paved road and saw the shadow of a man flying directly above her.

Jean didn't even have time to look up, as the explosion went off again. Levi grinned like an animal, realizing that now he is absolutely defenseless, he does not have any weapons with him. He would get away from the chase, Levi knew, but the only thing he really cared about was how to protect Jean.

- We need to split up! - the captain made a decision. It is he who is in the priority of the military police, the probability that Jean will be allowed to leave in peace, having exchanged her for Levi, is higher than the one that Jean will not be allowed to leave.

Before the girl could object, Levi made a detour with a whistle and flew away in the opposite direction. And here she is all alone, alone with her fears and enemies. Jean somehow lost faith that since Levi had saved her once, he would save her a second time. But now it all depends on Jean herself.

Jean squeezed the triggers harder, adding gas. Why did the captain do this? Why did he leave alone? And apparently he took a good part of the soldiers with him. Was it really just to protect her again?

At that moment, Jean felt disgustingly pathetic and helpless. Constantly someone sacrifices himself, brings his life to the altar in an attempt to protect the girl. Well, no. It's time to pay back in kind. If you die, then die usefully.

Jean, flying through the deserted streets of the city, stole a glance over her shoulder and realized that she was still being chased by a girl from Kenny's team. She kept firing indiscriminately at Jean. The soldier is still young, so she has not been taught by the experience of life. The chances of leaving alive increase significantly.
