The home looked like any other home on the outside in a faraway village. The small home was dark, and the married couple who lived in it loved it.

Alma and Pedro were the perfect match. Both loved the gloomy weather, dancing in the rain was their favorite pastime. They had a library of books with spells and necromancy. To put it simply, anything that the other townsfolk hated, they loved.

The couple has always been seen as an oddity. It was something no normal person understood. Alma would occasionally do seances to communicate with her dead parents. Pedro would work in his lab and experiment on explosives.

With the couple is a small living flame that came to life with black magic that Alma made years ago. They called him Fuego. He was a shy flame, and never leaves the home without hiding in the lantern. Now with the birth of triplets added to the Madrigal family, the townspeople knew that was going to lead into a hurricane of chaos.

It was nearing midnight, also happened to be the night of a lunar eclipse, and the Madrigal couple thought it was a good night to take a walk. It's been a few days since their birth, yet two had already gained a unique ability.

Bruno's eyes glowed green, for a reason yet to be revealed. Pepa always had a small cloud above her, which she loved. Julieta didn't show any uniqueness yet, though she has gained an interest in cooking whenever they were in the kitchen.

As the family walked through town, Fuego hiding in the lantern, a few people lingered outside bars and chatted with the neighbors. When they noticed the family, they became quiet, keeping their distance. The people noticed a cloud above the baby carriage and a green glow coming from it. They back away, slamming their windows and doors closed.

The Madrigals soon returned home, as the red moon shone above them. They sat in their room in peace, the triplets falling fast asleep.

"Remember the day we met?" Pedro asked Alma. They both laid on the bed snuggling close with one another.

"How could I forget?" Alma chuckled, "I was just walking through the forest, gathering ingredients for my next potion, then you literally landed at my feet."

"I was tinkering," He pointed out, laughing at the memory. "I was taking a bomb apart to mix it with a new one. When I saw you, I was blown away by your beauty,"

Alma smiled, and kissed him. "Mi amor,"

"Mi vida,"

Suddenly, Fuego rushed around them, clearly trying to warn them. He returned to his lantern. The light dimed, showing that the flame was frightened.

It wasn't long they heard yelling from outside. Angry voices of the villagers could be heard, some holding torches. It was clear that it was no longer safe.

Alma gathered her children and held them close, determined to protect his family. Pedro gathered a few of their belongings from their room.

The mob grew louder outside. The Madrigals ran to the kitchen and a door within the floor. It led to a cave, which led to the forest. It was often used as a storage space, but it was now used to escape their home.

Alma went in first, hugging her children. Pedro handed her their bag but didn't go through the door.

"I'll keep them away," he told her. She looked at him, confused. "Long enough for you leave,"

"I'm not leaving without you!" She protested climbing up the ladder. He stopped her, and handed her a folded piece of paper.

"Go to my old home. The house will protect you." He looked deep into her eyes, seeing tears fall on her face. "Mi amor, I know you'll raise them well. Fuego will help you too, he may be small but will protect this family."

He kneeled down, kissing the triplets and his wife goodbye. Alma, still hesitant, went back down the ladder. When she got out of the cave, she saw their former home ablaze. It soon exploded, breaking the walls down.

Tears filled her eyes, seeing her home torn apart by the people, but she knew she had to keep moving.
******************************

It was dark, not that it bothered her. The red moon slowly faded away, but still remained beautiful in the black sky. It has been a few hours since she fled her home, still in shock and filled with grief. Fuego got out of his lantern, snuggling close to her.

She looked at the map, seeing that their new home was near a river. Fuego looked around. The flame soon saw something hidden in the shadows of the deep woods. He flew towards it, Alma following close behind him.

They stopped at a tall iron gate, leading to a fogged area. The woman pushed the gate open, an eerie creaking filled the air. As she walked on the cobblestone path that led to the front door, she gained a clear view of the property. A large home stood in the center. A cemetery could be seen beside it. The only light provided was Fuego, who danced along the walls.

Alma opened the large wooden door, spider-webs breaking apart at the doorway. Fuego continued the glow brightly, illuminating the halls of the building.

The front door slammed closed, making Alma confused since there was no wind. The red moon was nearing its end when the stairs moved on their own, the floor and roof tiles moved up and down. Rats could be heard scurrying in the halls, spiders climbed on their webs.

She heard rumbling outside. She and Fuego went to the backyard, the triplets still in the woman's arms.

In the cemetery, and a new tomb grew from the ground, it took the form of a tall statue. A statue of her late husband.

"Gracias, Pedro,"  Alma whispered with a sad smile. "We're home,"
