Next day, a Wednesday, Brie and I had to take the boss to school because Mom had to leave early for work with Othniel.

We had not taken time to really stroll around our new home, since we arrived, precisely a week a go today. So, as we were on the bus, I took my time to really look around and I had to say California was beautiful.

Mom had bought a place off town, for reasons only God knows, so we don't see much of all the hustles and bustles that happens in town.

I sighted a library around a curve, I'm not much of a reader but Brie was, I bet she saw it too.

There were many fancy looking restaurants around the town too, a stadium, art galleries all of it.

We got to our destination in few times with plans to visit some of the places we'd seen, later after school.

"Huhh, school," I groaned out.

"I know right," Brie agreed.

I don't think I know anyone who's usually as almost always on the same page with me, as Brie. World's best best friend.

We stepped into the school along a bunch of other students, I noticed the time and we we're quite early, ohh Lord why, worst thing ever.

A group of girls were walking right in front of us, and I caught whiff of their conversation, they seemed like they're in our year.

"Dale's party last night was crazy awesome," I heard a girl say she had obviously dyed strawberry blonde hair and a tall figure.

"I can't believe he had a casino night in his pool, it's crazy," another one with long brown hair said, she had a bit of an accent.

"What happens if the cards fall in the water?" I thought.

"What?"

Oh was that out loud.

The girls looked back at me, as if to confirm if I had spoken or not, I guess we're doing this then.

"I said what if the cards fall in the water?" I asked my question once more, and then I remember something else, "and how big is this pool for someone to host a casino night in it?"

Silence followed, with then staring at me like I just said the most bizarre thing they've ever heard, maybe I did.

It was then I realized Brie wasn't next me anymore, traitor.

One of them finally spoke up with a laugh, she was tanned probably still from the heat of the summer, her slick looking black hair was parked up in a pigtail, leaving two curly strands down in front and I had to say she's pretty hot.

"You must be the new girl Peter talked about." Did I not hear right or did she just say, Peter talked about, who's Peter?

"Hi, I'm Jane," she stretched her hand out for me to take, and that's when it hits me. Hot, Peter, Jane. The girl I was asked to pass a paper to.

I took her hand and smiled "Dami," I told her.

"Well Dami, how's about I wrap up your confusion, Dale's parents are stinky rich tycoons, they are practically a dynasty and their pool is probably the size of your entire house, and there was no water in the pool, well one of the pools, there two." She concluded and smiled looking at me.

"Oh, I see now." Was all I could say.

"Hmm hmm," she hummed and nodded with a look that read, I know, crazy right?

I laughed and nodded in agreement

"Eh, excuse me, is no one gonna question why this random girl just barged into our conversation?" Another girl said, her jet black hair was in very long braids, and again I had to say, she was hot. (Image above).

"Oh shut it Deja, It was cool that she did," Jane said. "Major other girls in this school have jellyfish for bones," she added and chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah," the girl said and strutted off.

"That's Dej, Dale's twin, don't mind her, she's not the nicest, but she's pretty cool, if you get to know her." The tall girl said, "I'm Ember by the way," she added and gave me a small wave.

"Dami, it's okay, nice to meet you," I finally said something, I've just been quietly taking in this few interactions.

"And I'm Aanya," the accent one said.

"Nice to meet you too," I said again

It was then the halls went suddenly weirdly silent.

The bell hadn't rang.

I meant it when I said we were early, all students were still in the halls.

We were just a few feet away from the entrance since the conversation picked up right at the entrance.

I looked up towards there and that's when I saw- oh my dear Lord God

"Really people?" I said to myself, at least that what I thought, I really need to watch my mouth.

"I know right, it's so cringe worthy, you're hilarious new girl," Jane replied and pulled my hands. "Come on," she said heading towards the entrance.

"Lemme introduce you to the guys."

Wait what

"Hold up, hold up," I stopped her.

"I really don't think I want to do that, and I'll bet my savings they don't either." Who would?

I'm still surprised at her saying I was cool, well in a way she did, now she's thinking of introducing me to obvious idols of the school.

Why self abeg? I should voice that out.

"And why even?" I saw Ember and Aanya leave to where the boys where standing and chatting, I saw the Deja girl move over there too from God knows where.

"Oh, come on, don't be boring, you seem really cool and I like you and they would too," she said rolling her eyes.

A second time and this time she did say it.

"Em, okay I get that," I'm not lame noh shallow minded and I know that.

"But, why?" I asked again.

"Oh come on, let's just go," she said and successful pulled me to the side of the hall where the guys had dominated.

"Hi, guys what's up?" She greeted.

"Jane, how's you doing?" A dark skinned boy said, he was very tall and had jet black hair just like Deja's, so I guess he must be her twin that Jane talked about.

He was fine, okay I was being humble, he was a bright sun in summer, he's very hot.

That was weird of me, I know, but don't blame me, I'm the pencil in a jar of pens. I feel out of place and I need to busy up my brain.

"I'm doing okay, I guess." Jane answered.

"Who's your friend?" Another guy asked.
