Severus felt his eye twitch while he stood in horrified shock and waited for the next hour to pass.

As soon as he knew that Harriet would be in the Great Hall for breakfast, along with the rest of Hogwarts' students and staff, he rushed out of his office with his long, black robes swirling around his legs.

While Headmaster Snape charged through the stone hallways with a scowl on his pale face, he looked like a furious bat.

Harriet wasn't the least bit nervous that morning as she sat with her friends, while they chatted about their Transfigurations assignment.

Hermione and Ron remained ignorant of the letter that Harriet had sent to the Ministry and of the controversial choice she had made.

They both blinked when Severus swept up behind Harriet at Gryfinndor's table and glared down at her.

His fingers curled against his palms.

The tight, restrictive buttons of his black robes guarded his imposing figure.

"MISS.....POTTER......" Severus began in a low, cutting growl that would have made a first year student cry.

Harriet blinked and turned around.

When she saw Severus there, glowering down at her, she assumed that he had been notified of her decision.

"Yes, Professor Snape?" She asked innocently, as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

"Your breakfast....is over......Come to my office immediately." Severus commanded in one low,  severe tone.

Hermione frowned.

Ron gave their headmaster an incredulous look.

"But, I-" Harriet began.

She held a cinnamon roll in her hand, but quickly shoved it into her mouth as Severus snapped, "-NOW.....POTTER!"

Harriet hurriedly chewed her food, swallowed her mouthful, and grabbed one last sip of pumpkin juice from her goblet.

She stood from the table, nodded at her friends, and followed Severus as he led her out of the Great Hall.

Ron and Hermione were baffled.

"What do you think that was about?" Hermione asked Ron as she watched Harriet disappear around the corner beyond the massive doors of the Great Hall.

"Dunno." Ron shrugged as he took another bite of his food.

"Well, that was a bit odd, don't you think?" Hermione pressed as she narrowed her eyes, "This has been our first normal year of school. We haven't done anything wrong, we haven't broken any rules, especially not Harriet......I've never seen her work so hard....She really wants to get into the Auror programme! Professor Snape hasn't....He hasn't spoken to us at all! Well, outside of announcements, or course...Why would he ask to see Harriet?....Today?"

Hermione blinked at Ron.

Ron gazed at his girlfriend as he blinked back.

His eyes held a void that did not interest Hermione right then.

"Oh, Ron! Don't you care?!" She snapped, "I'm worried about Harriet!"

"Why?!" Ron shot back, "Do you think after everything we've been through that Harriet can't take care of herself?! You're right, Hermione, she has worked really hard! Maybe Snape wants to give her an award or something." Ron shrugged again, hopeful that his answer would be enough to appease his lover.
