Harriet barely held onto consciousness as Severus brought her back to the center of the stone courtyard where the battle had come to a halt.

Using the Resurrection Stone had unforeseen consequences for Hogwarts' heroine.

As Harriet's eyes rolled back into her head, her friends all gasped and gathered worriedly around her while she laid in Severus's arms.

It could have been argued that her young body had merely become exhausted from fighting and loving, after years of battles which she had never enjoyed the luxury of training properly for, only to be aggravated by the uneasy burden of existing, dying, then existing again.

Regardless, the war had been won.

Harriet Potter slept well knowing that.

Her slumber continued for weeks.

During that summer, the remaining Death Eaters had been arrested and taken to Azkaban after they had been given brief trials.

The dead had been buried and mourned.

A team composed of house elves, staff, students, and volunteers had worked together to clean up the castle, repair its wounds, and ready it to reopen for another year of academic learning before autumn arrived.

Harriet had remained under Severus Snape's care while she slept as her body tried to overcome its trauma.

As Headmaster of Hogwarts, and as he had become known, the man who had helped Harriet Potter win the war, Severus had devoted himself to continuing the task he had sworn long ago to undertake.....the protection of his least favourite student.

A part of him felt sorely disappointed.

He had planned on dying in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Severus Snape had hoped to go to his grave as a redeemed man, free from the heavy burdens of regret and duty that he constantly carried with him.

To his great dismay, Harriet had denied him that freedom by choosing to valiantly save his life instead.

Severus scowled at her while he sat at her bedside one morning.

He tried not to let his mind wander into the curious reasoning behind why she had dashed in to rescue him.

Severus had tried to shut out the memory of what he had seen in her thoughts several years ago, during the Occlumency lessons he had attempted to give her.

His scowl relaxed a bit as his dark eyes scanned over her sleeping form.

No, it didn't matter that she had become a young woman.

It didn't matter that she had grown from a child into a capable adult, a war veteran, an omega who may be desperate for his attention.......

Severus's scowl returned to his face as he carefully placed emotional shields around his heart.

Harriet Potter was one of his students.

She was the daughter of his dead best friend.

That was all that she was and ever would be to Severus Snape.
