"What happened exactly? With your parents, that is."


immediately I felt as if I was hyperventilating, but I tried hide it, by facing in the opposite direction of him. I had lost my ability to look him in the eye.


I remember being in an alley. I was about 5 or so years old. My mom and me always took this short cut whenever we needed to get around to the other side of the building quickly. I made my way through the narrow alley when I heard hard footsteps behind me. I assumed it was my mom trailing behind, so I continued walking. When I heard the click of the safety on a revolver, I knew it wasn't my mom. I trembled, before watching my mom effort to protect me. When, before I could blink an eye, the gun shot, and the bullets streamed through her skull, as If she was nothing at all.


I shook the image from my head


After that day, nothing was the same. I hadn't smiled in nearly 2 years, before I finally befriended Zack, who was there for me. I didn't want him to be stuck with the things that were forced apon me.


I felt safe around him, but I still knew that you're never safe in a world like this one.
