Chloe woke up the following morning on time. It was a normal day once again for her. There wasn't necessarily a rush to get anything done, but nevertheless, she forced herself up again and began to start her perfect routine. It was a way for her to feel less vulnerable, and more in control.

The day before had circled throughout her mind for a little while after she'd come home. Not knowing how to Luka's kindness, she came to the conclusion by the end of the day that his actions had to have been backhanded in some sort of fashion. She just didn't understand what it was specifically.

"I'm sure today's going to be a great day," she said when doing her morning affirmations in the mirror.

She felt her face crack a peak of doubt before adjusting her face into a smile. Once again, she planned to put on the usual amount of makeup she usually did and force her hair into a tight back ponytail.

"Chloe," she heard an assistant call, "Can you come downstairs really quickly? It's important."

Chloe scoffed as she sat at her desk in front of the mirror in the middle of her torturously long skincare and makeup routine.

"I'm busy!" she yelled back, "Call me in 20 minutes."

"I'm afraid we need your presence now," she heard her dad say, "Come on, princess."

She rolled her eyes at both of them and continued her makeup, pretending to ignore them.

"Honey!" she then heard a familiar female voice yell, "Come downstairs now!"

Chloe immediately stopped, dropping whatever lotion she was holding at the time. Her eyes widened at the voice of the woman who demanded her presence and paused for a short moment before responding.

"...Mom?" she asked, hesitating a little.
"Yes, honey, it's me," her mom spoke in a tired exhausted voice.

Chloe knew that her mom was calling her honey because she most likely once again forgot her name, but pretended that her mom simply was caring about her.

"W...whatever, I'm coming!" she yelled. Hearing her mom's voice was shocking for her, especially since she usually didn't see her for more than 2 months at a time. The urgency of her family sparked interest in her. Enough interest to stop one of the only things that gave her security. Still, in her pajamas and bunny slippers, Chloe slumped downstairs daring to show her parents she cared.
"Ugh, finally," she heard her mom say as she was walking down the stairs. Chloe gulped back the small lump in her throat and shoved down the hope of her mom's attention and love.

"Hey honey!" her mom said back to her. Next to her were 5 other assistants/maids, and her father. Confused, she looked at both of them.

"What is this? Some sort of intervention?"

"No, Chloe," her father spoke while chuckling, "We just...have news to tell you."

"Yes! Uh...Chloe," her mom spoke following after her husband, "It's exciting news!"

"Are you moving back in with us?" Chloe asked, skeptically.

"Oh heavens no," her mom laughed, "Plus that's not good news. That's boring. Would you really want your deadbeat mom to stay with you? I don't even know how to cook some eggs?"

"...I guess not," she spoke quietly, "Well...then what is it?"

"Your father's campaign for mayor isn't going as well as he'd like, and my fashion empire is...well...It's being taken over by the Agreste brand."

"This better not be a plan to tell me we're gonna be poor!" Chloe almost yelled.

"No!" Her father interrupted, "Well...not exactly. Your mom's going to try to build back this business in the States. And...she needed a little help so...."

"We're moving to America?" Chloe said, letting a hint of excitement get the best of her.

"No,... Cora..uh...Chloe," her mom spoke, making her daughter roll her eyes, "Me and your father are going with our team. Here's the good news: You'll get the whole mansion to yourself for the next couple of months."

"What!?" Chloe spoke, not believing what her parents just uttered, "Who will take care of me!"

"We invested some of our money to get some assistants to take care of you. Of course, because money is tight, we also had to fire a lot. Including...your everyday limo."

"...Wait...does that mean I have to....?" Chloe began, almost throwing up through her words.
"You'll need to walk to school from now on," her father spoke.

Nothing. And I mean nothing could've prepared everyone for the ear-wrenching scream Chloe let out.

"What?!!" she yelled, "I can't walk! My makeup will run! Do you know how hot it's getting outside?! Do you know how far that is? Why...why can't Adrien just give me a ride."

"Because his company overtook ours, leaving us with barely half of the estate!" Her father pleaded with her, "Please, Chloe, just calm down. You can walk there."

"When will I have to start walking? When are you guys leaving?"

They both looked at each other, and then looked at Chloe.

    "Today," they both said.

Chloe clearly didn't care that it was nearly 7 am in the morning as she let out another ear suffocating scream than nearly broke her mom's sunglasses. Without listening to another word they said, she stormed upstairs and slammed her door loudly. She plopped down on the couch and looked in the mirror.

"Today's going to suck!" she spoke to herself.

(Y'all there is gunna be mad moments between luka and Chloe. This was just establishing the premise so I apologize they didn't interact in this chapter. Plus I'll be more active after finals so I'm like 2 weeks so until then enjoy this... hopefully 😭)
