Chloe sat upstairs on her bed, feeling empty and bitter. Knowing that she not only had to be alone for the next few months but also walk to school every single day was unheard of for her. The large, empty house was where she planned to stay alone until her parents came back.
"Chloe!" she heard her father yell, "Since you're walking to school now, you're gonna want to leave right now."
"Are you kidding me?!" she groaned, as she got up from her bed.
Her routine was almost done. All she needed to do was wear her usual yellow outfit and get on her way. The only issue that prompted her mind was that the sun was out. She was sure to break at least a little sweat on her walk and that destroyed her.
She stared at her usual yellow outfit and forced it into her backpack. Then, just for the walk, she put on black biker shorts, an oversized white T-shirt, and white shoes. Grabbing for her stuff, she got a quick glance at herself from the mirror.
"I look like absolute trash," she muttered to herself, then sighed, "At least my face is prettied up."
Rushing downstairs, she grabbed her backpack and barely grabbed anything to eat before leaving her home.
The sun glared down at her despite it only being 7 am in the morning. Since her workouts only consisted of running on ellipticals in air-conditioned gyms, she wasn't used to being outside just to travel a distance in the burning hot sun.
"I cannot believe this," she groaned as she slumped her way onto her walk.
Not long after starting her walk, she saw a familiar face out of the corner of her eye. Looking to the other side of the street, she then laid her eyes on a familiar blue-haired guy. She kept looking at the figure, hoping it wasn't the man she feared it was until he returned eye contact back to her.
"Shoot!" she said as she turned the other way, "I hope he didn't see me!"
"...Chloe?" she heard Luka ask from the other side of the street, "Is that you?"
Chloe, knowing that Luka was aware that she was there, stopped in her tracks daring to turn her head back in his direction.
"...Chloe?" he asked again, his voice still fainted from the distance.
She hoped that standing still and not responding would get him to leave her alone. After a few seconds of complete silence, she let out a sigh of relief glad that he didn't recognize her completely.
"Hey Chloe," Luka spoke, now right behind her. Chloe jumped in surprise and stumbled back a little.
"Jeez, how did you get here!?"
"I walked across the street," he said to her.
"Gosh, you need a bell or something!" she grumbled, "I swear I thought you left."
