After dealing with the toughest year Maya and Carina had ever gone through together due to the pandemic, Andrea's death, Carina's visa running out, their biggest fight, Carina staying in Italy for a while and Maya's demotion, things were slowly calming down.
Carina's POV
Carina was already at the hospital. Her work has always put her in a great mood, only the idea of helping a mother bringing a new life into this world has always made her feel particularly proud of her.
"Good morning Dr. DeLuca, here's your coffee!"
It was Dr. Helm. She was known in the whole hospital for having a huge crush on Meredith Grey, but since that one time she met Carina in the elevator, she just can't take her mind off her. It's not that they had ever talked much, but since that one meeting in the elevator something changed and she is now crushing on both doctors and runs through the whole hospital to bring both coffee.
Carina was not paying any attention to her, since she was looking at the electronic health record for her next patient.
"Mh?" She said finally looking at her. "Oh you brought me coffee. Again." She grabbed the cup and continued walking.
"Yeah, I hope it really isn't a big deal, I know you're married and stuff.. and yeah"
She stopped talking as Carina stopped walking turning her head around and looking at Helm in her blue eyes. "I better go now" said the blonde intern with a very shy voice.
Carina was visibly confused, shook her head and went straight into her new patient's room, a 33 years old woman who was about to give birth.
"Good morning Sara! How are you doing?" Carina asked while putting on her glows and getting read to visit her.
"Could be a lot better if this baby finally decides to come out." Says the young lady smiling.
"It's two centimeters deeper than the last time I checked, strong heartbeat for both of you, everything is going smoothly" replied Carina smiling. "I'll come later again"
As she got out of the room she starts checking her phone in case Maya sent her anything. They use to message each other whenever they have some minutes free. 'Maya♥: photo📷: missing you so much'

Carina smiled bright as she menages to reply with something sweet. She just couldn't wait to finally be home with her beautiful blonde wife.
The brunette ob/gyn was going to the cafeteria to grab something to eat since she was late this morning and didn't have time for breakfast. She just grabbed a chocolate muffin which she could easily eat while walking throw the department of obstetrics and gynecology of the Grey+Sloan Memorial Hospital, until some familiar voice screamed after her.
"Carina!!" It was Amelia Shepherd, who was running touward her holding little Scout.
"Hii" She replied with a smile and with a brighter smile she greeted Scout grabbing his little hand and shaking it "Hello to you too!" She said in a high pitched voice.
"I'm so sorry to bother you Carina, I wouldn't ask if it wasn't urgent, but see I'm a mess as always, i forgot i had a planned surgery at 5:10pm that is gonna last very long, so does Link and Meggie is sick so i don't want to bother her with this, so would you mind taking Scout with you after your workshift? I'll just tell the educators at daycare but please Carina I'm begging you"
Carina didn't quite know what to say, she would have preferred to relax back home instead of babysitting.
"What about Meredith?"
"Yeah well, we're not talking again."
"My shift ends at 4:00pm" said Carina while hiding the fact that she just hated this position she was put on.
"THANK YOU you really are the best. I'll tell them you're picking him up, I'll leave there the bag." She hugs Carina tight and then she runs again.
"Porca miseria, I was hoping for a very fruity night uff I hate this life"
3:50pm. It had been a good day this far. Carina had delivered 4 healthy babies, visited multiple women and teenagers and no one was severely sick or dying, she consideres this a win. She was now waiting to see if she would get paged before she got undressed to go home.
No one paged, so she was going to the dressing room to get dressed with her usual clothes, opened her bun and took all of her stuff. She was now going to daycare to pick up Scout.
"Hi I'm doctor DeLuca, I'm her for Scout Shepherd Lincoln, I think Dr Shepherd told you"
"Sure! Wait I'll bring him and this stuff" said the educator smiling.
Carina was looking around. She had never been into hospitals daycare before. It was very bright and colorful. She was looking at the children, most of them are under 3 years. She was smiling. She thought it was cute seeing all of them playing. Scout is one of the youngest there. She couldn't remember exactly how old he was, but definitely not even 3 years old yet.
"There you are" said the educator passing her a big grey bag on her left shoulder and Scout on her right one. "Have a nice day, see you tomorrow Scout". She waved at him.
"Crap." Was the only word Carina managed to say not even 3 meters from the daycare. "Sorry do not repeat that. I have no car seat for you". Carina looked around with no apparent reason since she didn't know what to do. "Okay, okay, t's fine you know? I'll just carry you and this very heavy bag, okay?" She said while smiling and looking at him. "Amelia ows me a big favor" she said whispering.
