Y/N's POV
Finishing up resting from the battle royale, the next day was the second round where the ten trainers including myself get to battle one on one against each other. For this battle, I'm battling against a guy named Jake.
I've seen him battle before and he had Incineroar as his partner, I assume he came from the Alola region based on his looks and his battle style plus he had a Z-Ring on his wrist meaning he's able to use a Z-Move.
That'll make things challenging for sure and I have to watch out for it. Anyway, the stadium officials called us up to the battlefield. Me and Jake walked to the stadium facing each other.
"For this battle! We have competitors Suzuki Y/N and Jake Ryuji!" The MC announced to the audience and they cheered before the referee comes forward.
"Here are the rules for this match! Both trainers are allowed to use three Pokemon each and substitutions are not allowed! Trainers, please bring out your Pokemon!" The Referee said to us.
Jake's first Pokemon was Vikavolt which is a bug and electric-type Pokemon and I sent out Houndoom as my first. When it comes to types I have the advantage since Vikavolt is weak against fire-type moves.
"Battle begin!" The Referee commenced before waving his signal flag.
Jake made the first move, Vikavolt spits out sticky web to immobilize Houndoom but it dodged it and used flamethrower which was a direct hit causing massive damage. Vikavolt managed to recover and fired thunderbolt and Houndoom countered it with dark pulse and both attacks collided causing a massive explosion.
After the debris had cleared, charged in with its giant pinchers and opened to vice grip Houndoom but I tell Houndoom to counter it with fire fang and the attack overpowered Vikavolt making it faint.
"Vikavolt is unable to battle! The round goes to Houndoom!" The referee announced and the crowd cheered. Jake returned Vikavolt to its Pokeball before pulling out another and sending out Golisopod.
"Up next, is the hard scale Pokemon, Golisopod! Quite a choice!" The MC said to the audience.
Next, Golisopod uses razor shell and charges toward Houndoom. "Not on my watch! Houndoom, use thunder fang!" I said and Houndoom's teeth charged up with electricity before biting onto razor shell and the electricity of thunder fang electrocuted Golisopod.
However, what Golisopod did next would knock Houndoom out of the battle by using close combat which was super effective since Houndoom is weak against fighting-type moves.
"Houndoom is unable to battle! The round goes to Golisopod!" The referee announced and the crowd cheered once again. I returned Houndoom to its Pokeball before thanking it for its efforts.
I take out another Pokeball and sent out Pidgeot which I switched out from Talonflame when I was contacting Professor Rowan.
"What we have here is Pidgeot, the bird Pokemon of the Kanto region! A good choice against Golisopod!" The MC said to the audience.
"Now, Pidgeot use air slash!" I said and Pidgeot fired air slash but Golisopod blocked it with its thick armor.
Next, Golisopod fired mud shot but Pidgeot easily dodged it and countered using aerial ace and Golisopod wasn't able to block it due to how powerful the attack was. Golisopod was sent flying into the stadium walls causing a massive crack in the wall it collided with before falling down.
"Golisopod is unable to battle! The round goes to Pidgeot!" The referee had announced and the crowd cheered.
After that, Jake returned Golisopod to its Pokeball before sending out his last Pokemon, Incineroar which is a fire and dark-type Pokemon. Yikes, this is going to be a tough battle.
"As Jake's last Pokemon! He sends out Incineroar which is an excellent match-up to Pidgeot!" The MC said to the audience watching the battle.
"Time to finish this! Incineroar use flamethrower!" Jake said and Incineroar spits out a jet of flamethrower towards Pidgeot but to counter the attack it used hurricane.
With quick speed, Pidgeot used tailwind to increase its speed to the point where I can barely keep up. Next, Pidgeot charged in using brave bird which is its most powerful move.
Incineroar countered using darkest lariat but it wasn't enough to repel brave bird causing Incineroar to go airborne making it vulnerable. We took advantage of it by Pidgeot using multiple wing attacks at quick speed leaving Jake and Incineroar completely helpless.
After one final wing attack, Incineroar crashed into the battlefield causing it to faint.
"Incineroar is unable to battle! Thus the victory goes to Y/N!" The referee confirmed making the crowd go nuts.
Me and Jake thanked each other for the great battle before returning back to our hotel rooms. While walking down the hallway I happened to smell a familiar perfume which I can't point my finger at.
"It's been quite a long time, Y/N." A feminine voice called me and I turned around.

"G-GAEUL!!!" I exclaimed and she giggled.
"Yep, that's me!" She answered me before we hugged each other and did our secret handshake.
Ah, Gaeul, she's my childhood friend and we used to travel together in the Kanto region but she had to leave because she wanted to fulfill her dreams of becoming a Kpop Idol. Well, it looks like she had accomplished that!
"So how have you been doing?" I curiously asked her.
"Been doing great! I'm now the leader of IVE and accomplished my dreams!" She answered me while brightly smiling.
"That's good to hear. So are you part of the tournament?" I asked her and she nodded.
"Yep! And so are the others!" She answered me.
"What about you? Are you here to get stronger?" She asked me and I nodded.
"You betcha! I came here to battle here until the Kalos League starts up!" I explained to her.
"Ah, I understand! Well, you better not lose!" She playfully threatened me and I chuckled.
"I won't, these opponents so far have nothing on me," I replied to her and she giggled.
When our conversation was done, we said our goodbyes and I head back to my hotel. Man, I had no clue that Gaeul and the others would be here. I wonder if there going to be my opponents after I defeat the other competitors.
